I remember her interview with Pete. Putting it nicely, if that kid has a chance to stay close to home, I think that's where he ends up. They have a very interesting...relationship.

her statement says the opposite. they have no problem with the idea of him going away to school. maybe they as others do believe that being away from home actually builds character and makes kids more independent. i went away to school. a lot of people i know never leave the city they grow up in and then almost become afraid to leave. they never get to experience what its like to live in other parts of the country. that is pretty valuable in the maturation process in my view.

if this kid leaves then alot of u need to blame urselves. u talk all this shid when he and his momma say he is a cane. im pretty sure they read this material and shake their heads at some of these comments. dont push the panic button, kaaya himself reassured a poster.

i'm not in the doomsday crowd, but, for some reason, i'm not reassured by her comments or his.

This, it's pretty easy to see right through her B.S. comments.

what do you want from them??? if i were in his shoes i wouldn't close the door on UCLA right now either. its just a bad business move for them to close doors at this juncture as anything can happen between now and signing.

you leave your options open. that said, she stated they are firmly committed here. i hate to tell you guys the door is always open for any recruit until they sign on the dotted line.

Who says I "want" anything? What are you talking about?

And I'm not usually one of those guys but its pretty clear that Kaaya and his mom both read this board.

So if he decides to weasel out of his commitment they can blame UM fans for being too suspicious. No one's said anything nasty. Some of them think he's gone, and some of us aren't sure if he's gone or not, but we're suspicious of the double-talk. Seems like a pretty civil discourse so far.

i don't think the family is going to turn on miami because of the rants of a dozen or so keyboard cowboys. please.

Not even worried about it. he obviously is thinking about it, who wouldnt be?

you have a job and someone calls you with a job offer, you dont automatically say no without thinking about it? its his hometown school, somewhere he could of always gone. UCLA is a worse program than Miami. Havent won a ship, few players in the NFL, etc. They've got some momentum now since the crosstown school is in shambles.

i have confidence in our staff. they arent going to let this slip. If it does, Brad is not going to string our guys out.

he'll stick

So let me get this straight , we now have two multiple page threads full of ****ing and moaning?

Correct. Also full of guys that want to be the smartest guy in the room and say I told you so if something happens. If it doesn't then they just say, glad I was wrong. WOAT.

agree with this post. miami is a superior football program with superior history but they have some momentum and they are the hometown team. they would be foolish not to just keep their options open at this time.

Also full of guys whining about people discussing our top QB recruit getting an offer from his hometown team and not simply responding with "I'm 100% committed to UM and not interested in going anywhere else".

She doesn't owe us a ******* thing but its appreciated anyway.

Not at all. She made a statement that said Brad was committed to Miami. 70% are saying her comment is BS, I guess I wouldn't like my word being questioned. To each his own.

The only thing anybody would be happy with is if they say he's all Cane but he like every other recruit has the right to weight his options. She's being a parent and making sure he makes the best decision for himself and we still haven't seen anything that Brad himself talking about this so why is everybody jumping to conclusions?

On to my second bag of popcorn! This thread is funny... :emotcanes:

I agree but the people talking about she's full of b.s, even though its a very small number will insult any kid so I wouldn't like it but I can imagine they're both very strong and wont be fazed much

Worth repeating. As you said in your earlier post, the simple answer is "I'm 100% committed to Miami." Anything else - from my vantage point - is not 100% committed to Miami. Not saying he's going to bail, but her reassurance was a departure from what we've been hearing.

What Franchise said.

Dude's starting to come off like Brett Favre when he got caught texting pics of his weener to everyone with a phone.

When easy questions lead to complicated, long answers, then smart eyebrows raise.

What Franchise said.

Disagree.

A does of perspective would be healthy right about now. How many times have we seen premiere out-of-state oral commits succumb to hometown pressure, whether it's the media, extended family, high school teammates (including their go-to receiver), and even his high school coaching staff (I think I read his coach brought him into the office and called Moron for him) - ****in' everyone in the hometown in his ear and in his mind. That's a ton of pressure on a 17 year old kid trying to graduate high school, lead his team to a state championship, and squeeze in some time here and there for some pussoi.

A statement like "I'm 100% committed to Miami," and you're the hometown turncoat. A statement like "I'm still committed to Miami, but I owe it to myself to explore all my options," and you're sending mixed signals to The Don and Co. A statement like his mother made perhaps gives the kid some breathing room, as he reaffirms his commitment to the coaches, but still gives homers some cause for optimism. But most importantly, it gives the kid the breathing room he needs to get through the season and his senior year.

I believe this was more about buying himself four relatively unmolested months. The statement "leave me alone, I'll deal with all of it after the season" accomplishes that to the greatest extent possible.

We have read his and his mother's statements over the past few months. They always seem measured, calculated, and appropriately edited (whether by them personally or a friend/advisor).

Until we hear of the staff extending offers to other QBs in the next few weeks, or unless he actually starts doing interviews and playing the recruiting game(s), I'm gonna keep on keepin' the faith in a kid who was born to be a Cane and who, by most accounts (on this board anyway), is one of the few young men these days who get such virtues as commitment, honor and the Golden Rule.

So I will stand with the "step away from the ledge" crowd.

It's great to be ... again.

Just so we're clear, I'm not on the ledge at all. As I said earlier, even if he decides to stay closer to home, I feel like Big Al will have a backup plan. I'm just a bit skeptical about him ending up here. Doesn't mean I'm right, but that's how I feel. I stated that in the very beginning when the news originally broke about Kaaya and Rozier committing.

@CANESFANALLDAY I wouldn't be.

That is ******* pathetic.

Exactly what I thought when I read it - so not a Canes thing. "Please don't leave me. Please!"

It is a message board and people's opinions will vary.

That being said, I would wager that he ultimately commits to UCLA.

To me, the family is letting the parties involved down easily. They did not say, "flattered, but 100% committed to UM." They opened a window and asked to be left alone for a while. That to me screams, "I am running to UCLA, but have to tread carefully."

They will decide quickly; however, and Golden will know soon enough. I would wager he commits to UCLA.
