"His recruitment will be one to watch depending on the Canes’s continued pursuit of Tyson Campbell, Patrick Surtain, and Josh Jobe."

Jobe's as good as gone. But if we take Bethel because we missed on the other two, along with Asante Samuel, I'm going to be really disappointed.

Jobe isn’t gone yet

By yet you mean its not December 16th when Jobe flips during his Bama visit

Will be interesting to see if this heats up with Asante off the table.

I love this kids upside as he'd be one of the best athletes in the class. If you're gonna take a 3* project type kid than you better be taking an athlete with potential. This dude can fly.

He just got offered by clemson when he decommitted a few weeks back. Still not on board with possibly taking him yet

i prefer watching tape myself..

but i don't pretend to be smarter than diaz or vennables

if Clemson just offered this cat, and he has Miami interest AND diaz likes him as well, then bring him on board, why not

as long as we get Campbell too I'm cool with it

At this point you take some great athletes and throw them on special teams while they develop. We have room for them, and they'd help our special teams on day one. I know we all want the day one starters on D, but it's rare to get a class FULL of those players. I think we were spoiled with the kids we had sign on day one, as many of them will contribute early. There's nothing wrong with taking a few players that are projects. Just my two cents.

Ya'll forget that Rumph convinced Campbell to play CB and coached him up to be what he is. Sometimes you take the athlete and coach em up to greatness. Bethel is just a notch below Campbell as an athlete.

I definitely would not be upset if we take Bethel.

I've never seen Bethel at corner. The staff saw him play corner at their camp and offered him. But I've only seen him at receiver.

With that disclaimer, I'm a Bethel fan. The guy is legitimately big and fast and plays that way. When Northwestern played their top rival (Central), Bethel stepped up and made the most explosive play of the game. He is a true 4.4 or better guy and looks big in person.

There are many NFL corners who didn't play a ton of corner in high school. If we want another corner, and Surtain is looking unlikely, I'd go after Bethel.

He won’t play right away perfect stash candidate with size and speed. Give him time to develop as a db under Rumph coaching think he’ll be a player with his athleticism

We could do a lot worse than landing a kid with this type ceiling after slow playing him.

Agree 100%

I want Nigel Bethel **** all the whining. A close of Tyson Campbell and him is more than an A+ db class.

Bethel has not been offered by Clemson. Stop coming up with fake news to try to gas up a Plan D option.

This kid apparently didn't even start at corner on his own high school team and was pushed out of UF's class by their new staff in a transition year. Everyone was mocking UF in the Gator Tears thread over initially accepting his commitment. He's a nice developmental option for a program like UCF, but we need to do better.

Close on Campbell and/or Surtain to close up shop at DB. Save the scholie for a stud DB in next year's class instead of settling for a Plan D option at the 11th hour.

Not a plan D...a plan B. Don't exaggerate.

Pete and others reported staff loved him all the way back last spring.

Started WR, and played some DB when they needed him. Raw athlete and a nice backup plan.

I'm going to give you a heads up, so blades or doesn't start and asante Samuel is a better cb than him right now.

What I don't get is why we don't offer him as the 4th WR...

A close of Tyson Campbell and my grandpa is a A+ class.

Exactly. If Bethel's added to the class to go along with Campbell, then everyone will be so happy about landing Campbell that it'll be perfectly fine.

Well aware of that about Blades. But at least Blades drew rave reviews throughout the camp circuit as well as at The Opening and was heavily coveted by many other top programs.
