Reach part 2. No one we have committed in this class is someone you would classify as a reach . Keep it going , we don’t “need” him at all and he will never play if we recruit how we are supposed to these next two classes

Seems like every year it’s a 3 star that canesinsight south Florida posters fall in love with and think they have that dog in them because they are from south Florida. We saw it with Desmond Phillips who many campaigned on here who went to Toledo and is what 4th string, Jawom Hamilton in 2016 has done nothing noteworthy, James Wiggins the dB from south Dade , Robert knowles and many others can fall in this category...
Nobody is in love with bethel but it's silly to say he doesn't deserve a scholly. Has the physical tools needed just didn't get the type of burn necessary in high school

If it works out then great, if not he'll transfer in two years no harm done

It's not like we're choosing him over a higher caliber player who's available and asking to be a part of the class

Giving scholarships for players like this is how you end up with too much deadweight on the roster

But the staff seems to like him a lot , they don't consider him a reach.

If Bethel had a legit UM offer he would have dove on it the minute UF dumped him and his option were UM or the Sunbelt.

Wasn't there a time he could've jumped and didnt? I could be wrong, but maybe when he was still committed at UF. Pretty sure Pete reported something like that at some point.

I honestly don't care either way, if he's in this class or not. I won't lose sleep.

I'm just stating Brock always white knights the staff if you question them, but it's ok for him to question them if a recruit doesn't have enough stars by his name, or isn't up to his standard.

It's just funny to me.

My point is UCF went undefeated -- who else did? And Butch offered the kid. Like Butch or not, one name is enough to make anyone pay attention to a kid he offers that other don't -- Ed Reed. And I think he was the Dline coach and recruiting co-coordinator who offered a kid in Chicago flipping burgers named Russell Maryland. Just saying he might be worth the shot since our bigger targets got away.

The bold is what has to stop happening, point blank.

UCF would have lost if they played in power 5 conference. Pathetic schedule. Butch isn't the only coach with an eye for talent.. Al Golden thought he was the smartest guy in the room. I'd trust the consensus.

Golden thought he was smartest guy; the NFL draft declared Butch the god of talent recruitment. See the difference? I could not care less about stupid ucf, but they happened to have beat the team that beat BOTH the teams that played for the championship.

Yeah because the transitive property is the set in stone method of gauging how good a team is right?

Troy beat LSU. LSU beat Auburn. Auburn beat UGA and Bama. Is Troy better than UGA and Bama?

Yes.

unless you are Bama, then nothing matters, you’re in automatically because everyone knows you are the best. It is like the old days at Wimbledon, the last year winner just waited until, all the challengers played to determine who got into the final against him.

Please tell me Bethel wasn't the one getting burnt repeatedly by that receiver from Chandler. I know Wilson wasn't active, but I'm not sure if Bethel was playing on defense in this game.

I know Hightower had some fun w D.Wilson and Wildgoose.

What's the difference between bethel and Wiggins? You're comment is dumb as ****. Bethel has the athletic ability to become a pretty good player here

For starters, Wiggins actually played the position he's being recruited at his senior year as a starter.

Wilson and Wildgoose played that game. They got beat, but that was a really good team. Bethel didn't suit up, IIRC.

I don't care if Bethel is fast. He's 160 lbs and has a thin frame. He's Terrance Henley 2.0, except at least Henley played CB in High School. The idea that he'll ever be able to tackle at this level is laughable

He'd be a waste of a scholarship, just like Jeff James was. Let him go to FIU or UCF

Exactly. The kid is rated 3 stars for a reason. He is NOT under the radar....dude plays at the most heavily watched/visited/recruited school in America. Every scout in the country has been to Northwestern this season.

If he were any good, he would have some elite offers and a good star ranking.

Pass on this kid.

Lmao.... dumb.

Meaningless. There have been plenty of players who go to college and expelled at other positions they didn't play while in high school due to their dynamic athletic ability. Just because you foo's don't pay attention to chit doesn't mean the Miami coaches don't.

Regardless your comment is meaningless, how many guys have played the same position in hs and come here and did nothing? Silly comment boss

Ask a stupid question, get a smartass answer...

Yes, there are examples of guys going to college and excelling and different positions... many of those involve guys growing and their bodies changing, but fine. There are also examples of guys going position to position without success. And there are yet more examples of guys getting recruited to play the position they excel at in high school and excelling at that same position in college.

Let's go Socratic: Do you think projecting guys from high school to college is difficult? If so, do you think it's easier with more or less film of a recruit playing the position you are recruiting them for?

Your answer was trash so you just tried to back track. Bethel has the physical tools to play here. Has good hands, can be explosive and he proved he can play corner at a high level while he was at that camp.

Nah, you asked a stupid question rhetorically because you saw a parallel between two players based purely on physical potential while missing the obvious difference between them, probably because of your unhealthy obsession with track times and 40 yard dashes. Then you backtracked.

I agree Bethel has the physical tools to play here (anyone who says otherwise is either blind or a troll). He can be explosive (maybe on special teams?). But I disagree that he "proved" he could play CB at Paradise. By all accounts, he impressed the staff. That's important and a good sign. But a couple good days at camp does not prove anything.
