Thanks Roman! Jarren played great. The one big miss IMO was the pass to Harley in the 3rd Q where he had a walk in touchdown off Jarrens scramble.

Nice break down. The O-line and D-line were the heroes of the day.

Although, no one talks about the fact that we were 2 for 3 on fgs.... that was big actually. The fact that we hit on both inside of 40 is also a big deal. You miss one or both of the fg, and momentum possibly swings the other way. We have seen that happen this year in the GT game, for example.

For what it is worth, I appreciate the intro music. Also, Roman always covers the QB play and offensive scheme, not the defense as much. But great to see Cam Akers turtling :) Can’t believe they fired Taggart. Public funding. Go figure. What do you think our problem is on 3rd down? Play calling? Execution? Screen play was amazing again also.

I stick in my lane. 😎

11 continuous video narrated clips from the FSU game. Willie Taggart's proverbial nail in the coffin was a dominant performance highlighted by the orange and green trench bullies. Here are some of my take away points from the game:

  • Offensive line was very close to dominant in pass protection
  • A lot more guys "looking for work" and the protections seemed much more ironed out
  • Of the two sacks allowed, one was as result of the quarterback holding the ball too long and the other I attributed more on the running back
  • Despite the one sack on the RB, I felt the RB's were exceptional in pass protection
  • Miami did not exceptionally run the ball particularly well but the run game was accentuated by perimeter throws with some success
  • Jarren Williams did not play flawless and left points on the board
  • The contingent that questioned his arm strength really were quieted by the fact he completed two big on the money pass plays
  • Perry has a stronger arm but Williams arm was miles better than FSU's Hornibrook in comparison (Video provided)
  • Williams is a pass first thrower who prefers to extend time in the pocket rather than run
  • Williams showed some exquisite accuracy at various points during the game
  • Third down is still a struggle with this team for various reason (3-15)
  • FSU was victimized by two dagger concept touchdowns last year, this year their poison was the post. They gave up two for touchdowns
  • A couple weeks ago on the orange bowl boys, Malik Rosier point blank said Williams threw one of the best digs and posts he's ever seen. You saw two good ones this game
  • Nine sacks by the defense were orgasmic
  • Very surprised how inept FSU's offense was under Kendal Briles who I have really come to respect offensively over the years
  • Take a bow Miami, you got Willy fired with that performance
  • It is typically hard to run on the other in this series but with that being said, that was as dominant of a performance as you can ask for in a rivalry game

great job, roman.

couple things i noted:

1) loved the discipline of the C and G's in their splits in pass pro this game. A LOT less "chasing and reaching" which really made the interior look like they were stoning the inside pass rush pretty much every play. As a QB, nothing bothered me more than inside pressure. what a difference strong C?G work makes in setting the pocket an keeping those sight lines and passing lanes open.

2) when i watched the game, i initially thought, jarren was staring down guys a bit too much, which he will do when he's not mentally sharp on a play. then after watching the tape i realized, his first look in his progression was open a very high percentage of the time, which made it look like a staring contest. not so. when a guy doesn't have to come off his first read, it means your OC had the right call against the defense they threw at him. kudos to Enos and staff for that one. i thought as an OC, Enos may have had his best game this year.

3) I've been screaming about this all year, but our skill guys lead us to being a weak side passing team. Witness the post TD to JT. MORE please! Kids. In. Space!

4) that being said, just once, I want to see doubles to field, with both Jordan and Mallory my 1 and 2 wide guys to field. I want to see the look on an opposing DC's face, when both of those guys are iso at the numbers and the hash against a pair of 5-10 CB's. and we run some skinny post/corner or arrow combo with those two. that ought to shrink some sphincters.

what say you?

intro music was actually good, a lot better than computer generated rap music.

reported you for DMCA infraction on intro. my bad.

Wasn’t that in the 2nd quarter to Wiggins that was an errant throw?

Roman, other than watching games for many years I respect and appreciate your breakdowns after each game but I lack your analytic skills. As a novice it appears to me that Jarren usually retreats instead of stepping up into the pocket. I did notice in this game he did step up a few times. Does this indicate he is trusting his OL more or has he been instructed to trust the pocket and step up or am I missing something?

Rewatched the game and TBH I was a little disappointed with how many points we left on the board. After such a dominate defensive performance and FSU just giving away field position, we really should have blown them out more than we did.

Offense looked better but still a ways to go!

His Eyes are down field better after the first week. That to me is his biggest indicator that he's trusting the offensive line a lot more. And he's moving left in the pocket, up in the pocket, back this week... not really directional on habit rather his feel

what say you?

1. Interior were manimals
2. A couple in harm's way but you're right with the first read being the right one
3 . Even on that Jt4 8 he's still way too close to the formation for my liking
4. And two tightends out flexed? Let's go. The 4th down conversion to brevin was in line vs a 5 something db... that worked out well
