Is it far-fetched to say this is shaping up to be a Top-25 team?

To early to tell. I predicted 9-3 on the year and right now I just want a really good home stretch. Team obviously not giving me wiggle room with 2 losses early on the season.

Let's get to 2-2 then 4-2 then we will revisit this.

Some take aways from this game are as follows:

  • Jarren trusting it more and really is developing more arm confidence week to week
  • Jarren had some high level next level throws and is a very efficient cog in this offense
  • Mark Pope was elusive and I felt he finally showed that elusiveness he was known for coming out of high school
  • Miami shored up it's blitz protections and really employed max protections on its play action passes. A few two man routes noted that we very successful
  • Miami continues to be a pro style team that will employ 12 set regularly
  • Offensive line dominated an inferior opponent as it should have
  • Mike Harley touchdown on a pre-snap RPO out on the perimeter shows how effective this offense can be by simply getting its play-makers the ball in space
  • N'Kosi Perry arm looks much improved and his throws outside the hash are prime howitzer class
  • Jimmy Murphy needs to be placed in the concussion protocol for the shot he took by his own teammate

As always InSight Crew thanks for taking a part and watching this newly formatted FTP video series. Please if you could subscribe to the channel and I will forever tip my cap. This offense will be 2-2 next week and then the season will start to get interesting. I do see an offense that is improving week to week and a quarterback who continues to find his stride.

We had former quarterback Ryan Collins on the Orange Bowl Boy's podcast this week and I flat out asked him, "This style of offense will take time to gel true or false?" He responded resoundingly true and unfortunately the Hurricanes took two L's first before it did.

FCS opponent or not these reps are invaluable for a team, who up to this week, has only marched out one senior in its first two games. I think there is another level that these Canes can get to. And I see the power running game being a staple this team will rely on during the back stretch. We shall see.

Roman: Well done, as usual.

Ok, so here’s my take on the 2 man routes. Either you use them for quick read 3/5 step “choice” .... “throw here, there, or to the water cooler.”

Or, as you noted in your analysis, as a tool of the deep passing game. Which is what i would like to see a bit more of. And particularly as a tool for having Jarren check into deep shots. E.g. he sees cover zero or single high shaded away from the doubles (1/2) receivers? All right then. Check into some 7/9 route combination with those doubles, ... and let your athletes go make a play!

(the protection is not complicated, the presnap read is straightforward,

Just a thought, and presaging how/what Enos is thinking for next steps, wondering if that might not be on the menu, and should it be.

Thoughts?

I think the next step could be something in this direction. I have not seen at the line, or heard of, Enos allowing audible capability. I do know they have been victimized a few times this year on blitzes in which they have used the rb primarily as a sell rather than a blocker. So, I like your premise. See something fortuitous in the secondary, go after it with max protect and let the receivers do work. And yes 7 or 9's, overs or co-po's have the time theoretically now to get over the top.

I mean Miami did not have a play over 50 yards coming into bethune. It does now, and I think we all see how they did it. MOOOOOOAAAARR.
