Thats the flight path because of the earths rotation. They fly to where Miami will be a few hours after take off. Not where it is at takeoff.
They’ll leave Thursday after practice.

That explains why when I jump really high, I land in a different spot than I jumped from.

Flights from the NE or eastern seaboard don’t take off and head west to get to Miami. Generally, They head east over the ocean and come in.

They fly out of Roanoke (SW Virginia). 180 miles west of Richmond. Almost to the Tennessee border.

My guess is the "normal" flight path would take them over Charlotte and Charleston before going out over the Atlantic Ocean and into Miami.
