Y'all think the game will be played Friday night?

I think the game will be affected. I know you all don't, but I think it may be cancelled due to VT not being able to fly in. I sure hope I am wrong cuz I want to see us whoop that *** on Friday night.

As long as the track doesn’t bend west, MIA will be running arrivals and departures no differently than any other summer afternoon.

Turkeys are gonna have a bumpy flight in tho.

Edit: bend east lol… my bad.

We have some dumb fans. Storm isn’t gonna be near Blacksburg when they leave Thursday. And if u know how flights work, they’ll take off and head east and south because of the rotation of the earth.

If it’s a bumpy ride it won’t have anything to do with this storm as they’ll be no where near it during the flight

I’m no aviation or weather expert but I would assume their flight path will be similar to this red line. Yes the storm is massive and will cover the entire state for awhile but they can flight outside its path to the east and come around into Miami.

If it was being cancelled it would be already been done or been pushed back to Saturday. They leave tomorrow at some point.

That's the general flight plan going into Miami from the north anyways. Departing from that general area they almost always fly south over the ocean from the NC coast. This is set up to avoid arrival procedures for the Tampa and Orlando airports. Think of it like a huge 3 lane highway.

Thats the flight path because of the earths rotation. They fly to where Miami will be a few hours after take off. Not where it is at takeoff.
They’ll leave Thursday after practice.

Wut?

First off, I've been on a ton of flights from the NE down here and none swing that wide. It can be done but not the normal flight path.

For another, planes aren't somehow not affected by the earth rotation. When they're on the tarmac, they're traveling at the same rotational speed as everything else, and that inertia goes with them when they take off. Hot air balloons don't just hover as the earth spins under them.

Our school system sucks.

You do realize that in the atmosphere, the plane is still spinning with the Earth right? Flight plans do not take the earths rotation into effect. Prevailing winds, weather systems, NOTAMs/flight restrictions, and established procedures are what dispatchers account for when creating flight plans for airlines.
