Likewise, Punta Gorda got hammered with the surge rolling up Charlotte Harbor from a storm 150 miles off in the Gulf. It got pretty bad downtown in the streets—worst flooding in my lifetime. There was another 10 hours of surge after the mermaid appeared. Punta Gorda is a favorite of Cat 4 Eyes - Donna, Charley and Ian, now this. Those orange sand bags were an effort in futility at the Celtic Ray, once voted the 2nd best place in America to celebrate St. Patrick's Day! Chairs were floating last night.
