Why don't we run more?

For real. Deejay has a good rushing average because of Deejay. Look at the long runs he housed vs the Crocs and vs Va Tech, for example. Dude has been a magician in traffic with zero help from the O Line.

They gave up four sacks against CMU.

We aren’t going to turn into ‘95 Nebraska. The question is, how do we protect our OL? That’s running the ball more, preferably out of spread looks given the weakness at FB and blocking TE, and calling more quick hitters outside.

The only game that we were playing behind that would rule out passing was VT. In a tight game, rushing the ball would be an advantage. It would allow you to control the tempo.

But then again, most here would not like it. They want to win with style … or not win at all. Running would be too 60s-ish. We've got speed galore, let's go downfield. Who cares the line can't block.

Exactly. We have a ton of talent at the skill spots. Get them out in some space and let them get loose. Use that quick throw game as a form of the run game to loosen up the D a little.

Getting in these tight sets and trying to run slow developing run or pass plays has been a cataclysmic failure. This isn’t Wisconsin.

When you say CIS do you mean DMoney? Are keeping track of which people want Mike Leach in a note book and comparing to those who want want to run the ball?

When we ran on early downs vs UVA & their rushers were in the backfield by the time the ball was handed off.

We ran (from under center 😡) multiple outside Zone runs that were immediately sniffed out & resulted in TFL's because the backside went completely unblocked & the DE/LB just walked into the backfield & hit Deejay.

Our most successful run plays came when we ran out of the Shotgun & was quick hitting straight up the middle. When we try to run the ball on the outside it almost always gets shut down, or when Cam breaks one on the outside it gets called back for holding every single time.

We don't have the OL to be a Run first team, our best formula for success with our skill position players is Pass to setup the Run out of the Shotgun, running an uptempo Spread system.

The reason why our run game can get shut down so easily by a garbage team like CMU, is because we try to run out of I Formation & Single back looks from under center as if we're Wisconsin, BC, or Iowa or some sh*t.

Enos is running a B1G 10 "Pro-style" Offense while having an ACC Spread style personnel... Square peg in a round hole sh*t, Classic Miami ineptitude smh.
 
It's really been boom or bust with the running game. DJ has had a number of long runs that make that average look better. We need to be more consistent in the running game with the three to four yard gains. Instead it seems we go four or five in a row with no gain or a loss then pop one for 20 plus yards.

I love CIS, too. But not for the reason you do. Love watching posters not being able to understand the difference between a historically significant coach that would be really fun to watch with the level of talent he'd have access to and whatever the fvck it is Dan Enos does.

Watch the play designs on the interior runs.

They are terrible.

Then watch the fronts we are facing when we do run inside. Pull up your YouTube and just watch it lol. I’m talking strictly interior runs not the slow developing stretch plays with the unblocked backside DE. That’s just stupid.

Literally focus on the designs of the interior runs. With or without lead blockers.

that is exactly what Bama does with their O ... with the players that Miami has its beyond frustrating to see us not doing this.
 
I would love to see us utilize our running backs more in the passing game, even having both deejay and cam on the field together would be a breath of fresh air. We can run the ball with success if we do it with spread formations.

Why are we passing so much? We know our offensive line has pass protection issues. Any offensive line would rather run block. Why not put them in a position to do what they do best?

Our lead tailback, Deejay Dallas, is rushing at an outstanding 6.7 yards per carry. Camron Harris hasn't gotten going but has had several game-changing yards called back. Why not give them more chances to make big plays?

Maybe we have to run off-schedule and are a little pass heavy because that's what teams give us with inexperienced QBs and a weak OL...?

If i'm defending Miami it's to stop the run on first and second, then send 4 or 5 on 3rd and long.

We're not in any position to dictate terms with our running-game, so the fact that DJ has a 6.7 average speaks positively to DJ, the scheme, and play-calling of our OC.
