Why do the majority on this board continue to live in a fantasy land?

I mean I get the message of a closer loss being a lesser of many evils thing but I don’t want to rain on the parade of the positive hopeful faithful. I hope they’re all right.

I think a moral win for this program would be us looking like we belong. Competing. Taking the hunger from the loss and turning it into an undefeated rest of the season that leads us to a big bowl game/bowl game win/playoffs/etc. Build the momentum for the season, but also build the momentum for the upcoming seasons as well. Build momentum in recruiting into a top 10 class, etc, etc.

You are a realist my friend, I agree. Half of the folks raise fantasy illusions of where we are at as a football team. I have been a long time Cane fan was on Shadow's Board for many years and even remember the Conch, who I suspect was Franchise, LOL) and have suffered like most on this board. Over the last 2 years we are slowing pulling in better recruting classes and this year I also agree that we have the best team in many years. If we continue to slowly improve our future is bright. For me a good year would be wining UNC game and all of our ACC games and reaching the ACC championship game and keeping it respectful in the Clemson game. All of this starts by keeping it respectful and close (within 14 points) and not getting blown out by Alabaga. That is all. If we win I will be rolling up the bong, as an old man in my late 60s, and celebrating, just like everyone else. No drinking for this old man but will not pass on a bong with a few Cane buddies. Go Canes.
 
Sports are an escape. At least they used to be before the social justice era. But we can fantasize that Miami will be good again. It's still real to me dammit.

Eh they haven't finished worse than 6th in 10 seasons. If any team/program deserves reverance it's them. Even though there's 11 new starters they command respect but they're yuman so of course they can lose, it just likely won't be against us since we have their full attention. Let's give it our best shot, play a clean game like we did against UAB to open 2020, and see wha happens.

I am an old guy that walks with a Cane which I also reserve for going into the land of the enemy. If I was in Atlanta I will be wearing my cane gear and use the walking Cane to bash in some teeth, KKK bama teeth, if needed. Even though I pray that we win, my realistic expectation is to keep it under 2 TDs as we prepare for the ACC and the UNC win.

I just only have losses to bama and UNC. I think we lose two games this year and that's building.
