Why did UGA Fire Richt?

He had a .740 win percentage. According to Wiki, that is UGA's highest win percentage for a coach since a guy named Harry Stedgemen went .741 from 1920-1922.

Saban happened! UGA brass are looking next door at Satan racking up championships year after year, while they sit there eating **** sandwiches. That made them more than a little miffed.

They "mutually parted ways" according to him. Some people said his athletic director was an meddling f@qq0t.

Not as simple as just citing his winning percentage. He never got over the hump there. He hadn't won a weak SEC east in a few years. And he obviously didnt't seem to be competitive with Saban.

None of that is to say that he can't win big here. Sometimes things get stale and coaches need to move on.
 
The SEC East has been weak recently and Georgia has still under performed in recent years. The had to go to overtime to get past Georgia Southern this year and for some reason Richt started the 3rd string QB against Florida and stuck with him the whole game for reasons unknown to mankind. Richt needed a fresh start and so did Georgia.
 
just met with a big UGA booster. basically he took the poison pill to get out of there by hiring a terrible offensive coordinator. richt wanted out.

No NCs and got in the habit of losing to UF. HC make way too much $$$ now for anything short of winning it all at the big schools. Coker went undefeated first two years with one NC and cheated out of another --- Mark would have been fired here a lot sooner. Miles almost got canned this year.
 
Fifteen years ago, you could have asked anybody in Athens how would they feel about having a coach that wins 10 games every year and they would have gone said **** yes. Fifteen years of 10 win football later, their expectations have changed. Some say Richt isn't good enough to get them over the hump, others say Richt hit Georgia's ceiling. I'm hoping for the later.

Their boosters and AD happened. UGA's network is even more good ol' boy than a lot of the SEC teams. They have been trying to get Kirby Smart for a few years (in a DC/HCIW role) and when South Carolina was supposedly close to hiring him they panicked and pushed Richt out so they could hire him. Smart's pops is a well known HS coach and they and a bunch of powerful alums have been clamoring for him to get the job for years. It didn't help that Richt and the AD hated each other.

ARE YOU FYKING KIDDING? Have you been asleep like Rip van Winkle for the past month or longer??? You just porsted two untimely, useless threads on this board... this one about why was Richt fired from UGA and the even more horrid one where you asked what Golden would've done with the 2001 team. Hey... why did John McCain pick Sarah Palin as his running mate???
