Where does DVD stand?

I know but maybe it’s cause he’s a cane I honestly don’t want him to leave
I don’t want him to leave either, but if he wants to be taken seriously as a CB’s coach it may be the best option for him.

If Mario felt he was ready he would’ve encouraged Addae to seek opportunity elsewhere & elevated DVD.

He just added Canes Football back to his bio 😂

While everyone is entitled to their thoughts and opinions, there are a bunch of posters (and I'm not blaming you, I'm just referencing the sentence above) that keep using words like "god" and "worship" and whatnot, when that is NOT what anyone is doing.

Mario is the head coach. That's not a deity role, but it is the "man in charge" so to speak. Thus, his decision in these matters is the final one. To acknowledge that is NOT the same as "worshipping" Mario or calling him a "god".

I've tried to be delicate about the situation. I think there are some elements...and opinions...which may have SHIFTED between late-November/early-December and "today" when it comes to the promise or assurance or implied promise or tantalizing tease of a DVD on-field job offer. Nobody can deny that something that MIGHT HAVE been true under DC Steele may not be equally true under DC Guidry. I just don't know that "blame Mario" is always the correct answer in every scenario.

Bottom line, people have been screaming for Mario not to make every assistant coaching hire on his own, and to give his coordinators more power...and now that it's happening, some people are screaming about Mario breaking a promise he made months ago under different circumstances.

I'd love for DVD to remain with UM, but it also doesn't seem like he is getting an on-field role this year. I believe that we're just going to have to let this situation play out without acting like those who support "let the coordinators decide" are somehow "worshipping" the "God" Mario. It seems like Mario is doing NOW what he maybe should have done last year, and I'm not going to let some implied or actual RecruitingMania promise get in the way.

That is all.
theres a bit of both imo but all good. '
also, i agree that whaty was true in decembwer may not be true now as everyone is allowed to change their mind

I'm thinking when Addae moves on (and I could see him getting a g5 DC job as early as next year)...DVD to CB, and Guidry picks up safeties (his specialty)

Just a possibility. But one I consider fairly realistic.
If DVD has an opportunity to leave for any on field job he should take it. It will do good for him to learn out on his own. However, if its just to leave because he's upset at the current situation to take another off field job elsewhere he should stay one more year and see if the scenario you described plays out. Either way there may some better on field opportunities available to him next year at the G5 level than there is now this late in the coaching cycle.

I have no reason to doubt your info and wasn’t disputing it. I couldn’t recall whether or not you confirmed the “promise” or if was just rumor. That being said, I find it difficult to believe that Mario would make that kind of a promise to one recruit and/or one coach. Stranger things have happened.
Jimmy and Joe's over X's and O's....

I absolutely believe that Cormani signing with us and DVD's promotion to on-field were tied together.

Here's the scenario: Said attorney at law firm is working on a very important and lucrative case for the firm...so the Senior Partner/CEO/Chairman (whatever you call the Top Dog at a law firm lol) says, "If you close on this deal, you will be made a Partner in this firm"....if the attorney closes, he's made partner...if he doesn't, he stays where he currently is.

Very possible scenario. I’ve seen people get promoted based on one thing they excelled at and usually failed because they were only good at that one thing.

I'm of the same mindset and would even add this caveat- until Mario shows tangible evidence at UM specifically of the ability to develop young aspiring coaches then we can't hold it against anyone that dips for a bigger title/more responsibility and that includes alumni/local guys.

And I'm not trying to be overcritical of Mario here as I think he CAN do this, but we need to exempt Jason Taylor (if he hopefully stays and is elevated) from being labeled a "Mario coach development success" story. That's a very unique situation and not akin to the norm like DVD should be classified.

He interviewed at Georgia.

We could use him as a recruiter but not at the expense of him being an on-field coach.

Best thing for his career would be going somewhere else for 2-3 years. Best thing for Miami would be he stays in his current role.

All of this is probably irrelevant because I don't even think he's going anywhere. Playing the twitter diva game most likely.
Did we make the top 7?

To be fair, if Steele does well at Alabama we will label him a Mario coach development success

I can’t believe Addae is still here. That one surprised me.
