While everyone is entitled to their thoughts and opinions, there are a bunch of posters (and I'm not blaming you, I'm just referencing the sentence above) that keep using words like "god" and "worship" and whatnot, when that is NOT what anyone is doing.
Mario is the head coach. That's not a deity role, but it is the "man in charge" so to speak. Thus, his decision in these matters is the final one. To acknowledge that is NOT the same as "worshipping" Mario or calling him a "god".
I've tried to be delicate about the situation. I think there are some elements...and opinions...which may have SHIFTED between late-November/early-December and "today" when it comes to the promise or assurance or implied promise or tantalizing tease of a DVD on-field job offer. Nobody can deny that something that MIGHT HAVE been true under DC Steele may not be equally true under DC Guidry. I just don't know that "blame Mario" is always the correct answer in every scenario.
Bottom line, people have been screaming for Mario not to make every assistant coaching hire on his own, and to give his coordinators more power...and now that it's happening, some people are screaming about Mario breaking a promise he made months ago under different circumstances.
I'd love for DVD to remain with UM, but it also doesn't seem like he is getting an on-field role this year. I believe that we're just going to have to let this situation play out without acting like those who support "let the coordinators decide" are somehow "worshipping" the "God" Mario. It seems like Mario is doing NOW what he maybe should have done last year, and I'm not going to let some implied or actual RecruitingMania promise get in the way.
That is all.
