Where does DVD stand?

A lot of potential. Kids love him as a recruiter it seems.

But losing DVD isnt going to make or break us in 2023 on the field.

I also doubt Mario promised it, went back on it, then didnt say anything to him the last few weeks. I used to say to players if they ever want to talk about why something happened or didnt happen just come talk. You may not like my answer but it will be the truth and maybe you can help me see something I missed. I am only one person. If Mario promised it then went back on it I am sure there were conversations similar but coach to coach. Not easy ones I'm sure.

He interviewed at Georgia.

We could use him as a recruiter but not at the expense of him being an on-field coach.

Best thing for his career would be going somewhere else for 2-3 years. Best thing for Miami would be he stays in his current role.

All of this is probably irrelevant because I don't even think he's going anywhere. Playing the twitter diva game most likely.
I don’t believe he interviewed at uga , that whole situation was weird. Lol he called them to see if the cb job was vacant then shortly after addae is hired here? Nah i don’t buy it.

And i think he would’ve already left to do that if he didn’t think he would get promoted here

The point about it being “confirmed” DVD was promised an on-field role was really the only issue I was addressing. I rarely speak for anyone without permission and if I quote someone, I have enough consideration to tag them.

No, it's all good, I wasn't questioning you or anyone.

I'm not arguing or fighting with anyone. I had a LOT of texts with @Cribby (and others) during the CM debacle, because some of us had different sources of information and it was better to talk and share.

From the best of what I've been able to cobble together...this is not an all-or-nothing blame situation. As delicately as possible, I think DVD has his own individual reasons/rationale for trying to make the argument "I do a lot, I should be promoted", and Mario is trying to do the right thing for the entire team.

This is something that happens in a lot of work places. The best thing is for the disappointed individual to take another opportunity where they can advance.

Believe he just got there. Was at FSU if I remember correctly.
he did like a year there, he wants to stay in s.fla.
Down the road we should circle to him if need be.
Will be a good recruiter and coach, his brother got the earlier start but there 1 in the same as Ice Harris kids.(coaches kids)
Similar to how i feel Deriq King will end up a great coach.

This happens in any workplace, where there’s more than just a few people employed, and upward mobility is part of the structure. So I would say this happens in most workplaces.

I never have and never will begrudge anyone from trying to better themselves. As a supervisor and manager, I never promised any of my charges anything. I would advise and counsel them as to the things they should or needed do to in order to advance their employment position.

Managers at any level that make promises to employees are asking for trouble and create a toxic work environment. Even though the DBD promise seems to have been confirmed, I still find it difficult to believe Mario would do such. It also wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen or heard it happen.

He interviewed for the UNC job after Dre Bly went back to the NFL, but they went with Jason Jones instead.

He also interviewed for the LVille job.

DVD seems to love living down here. Waiting your turn so to speak at UM isn't nearly as bad as moving around to climb the ladder.
The thing is, waiting your turn still doesn’t guarantee him anything. I know he has a good setup here and it’s the hometown and alma mater but I’d have think he sees peers getting these promotions and advancements

TBH, DVD should’ve left 2 years ago when he had the chance to go to FIU or USF.

He’s gotta leave the Nest in order really learn how to better be a Coach & take command over his group.
Depending on his career aspirations, broadening his horizons would probably enhance his resume’. Some people are content with their current employment status. Others aspire to bigger and better things.

i know im trying to reiterate what you said and referenced you in my posts. people somehow forgot bc people treat mario like a god on here at times.

While everyone is entitled to their thoughts and opinions, there are a bunch of posters (and I'm not blaming you, I'm just referencing the sentence above) that keep using words like "god" and "worship" and whatnot, when that is NOT what anyone is doing.

Mario is the head coach. That's not a deity role, but it is the "man in charge" so to speak. Thus, his decision in these matters is the final one. To acknowledge that is NOT the same as "worshipping" Mario or calling him a "god".

I've tried to be delicate about the situation. I think there are some elements...and opinions...which may have SHIFTED between late-November/early-December and "today" when it comes to the promise or assurance or implied promise or tantalizing tease of a DVD on-field job offer. Nobody can deny that something that MIGHT HAVE been true under DC Steele may not be equally true under DC Guidry. I just don't know that "blame Mario" is always the correct answer in every scenario.

Bottom line, people have been screaming for Mario not to make every assistant coaching hire on his own, and to give his coordinators more power...and now that it's happening, some people are screaming about Mario breaking a promise he made months ago under different circumstances.

I'd love for DVD to remain with UM, but it also doesn't seem like he is getting an on-field role this year. I believe that we're just going to have to let this situation play out without acting like those who support "let the coordinators decide" are somehow "worshipping" the "God" Mario. It seems like Mario is doing NOW what he maybe should have done last year, and I'm not going to let some implied or actual RecruitingMania promise get in the way.

That is all.

I’ve said many times that unless we are in the room when a decision is made, anything we hear from a source is subject to interpretation from both the giver of the information and the receiver of such. That’s not denigrating a “source” but the reality of any information received second hand.

So LVille, FSU, UNC, maybe Georgia... Sounds like he may have over estimated his value. Thats ok, its good to believe in yourself. But you also have to come to terms with reality when it shows you the truth.

If he wants to advance his career the reality is probably taking a step down to smaller program for an elevated on field role that may also come with a step down in actual pay in order to work his way up the ladder. OR, he has a pretty nice position now in an off field role here which probably pays well and is in the hometown. Nothing wrong with that either but if you choose to stay you have to embrace/be happy with it. Cant be a twitter diva.

Or maybe we (including myself) are being the silly ones dramatically speculating based on some social media profile that doesn't say "coach at Miami" on it.

im not trying to do a whole wbesite search through that mess of a cormani thread, but it was absolutely confirmed by the main insider on here lol. like he didnt even parse his words. he flat out said mario told them to their face that DVD would go on field.
thanks for the clarification. i suppose the deal was land Cormani and you get the job. no cormani, no job. no ticket, no laundry, no woman, no cry
