Where does DVD stand?

I get DVD frustration but let’s be honest here…..he didn’t land Cormani. I get it he got a commit but he didn’t close Cormani. He’s not such an elite recruiter that he can’t be replaced. He needs on field experience and to develop kids and then come back.
Didn't land Stewart the year before either. Both our top targets in each class, had he landed both or maybe just 1 it might have forced Mario to find a spot on the staff for him.

I'm of the same mindset and would even add this caveat- until Mario shows tangible evidence at UM specifically of the ability to develop young aspiring coaches then we can't hold it against anyone that dips for a bigger title/more responsibility and that includes alumni/local guys.

And I'm not trying to be overcritical of Mario here as I think he CAN do this, but we need to exempt Jason Taylor (if he hopefully stays and is elevated) from being labeled a "Mario coach development success" story. That's a very unique situation and not akin to the norm like DVD should be classified.
….but if DVD leaves for a promotion, which is what a pay raise and elevated title and potentially on-field spot is, then how is that NOT Mario “developing” younger coaches ?

Fair but I'm essentially drawing the imaginary line of "development" at Mario actually doing enough work on that front to have the guy be on-field for us.

Imo, it's too much at the rudimentary level (at least at this point) to be crediting Mario with "developing" analysts that might be getting looks elsewhere largely based upon recruiting abilities.

Once Mario has a staff where actual on-field guys are getting better offers elsewhere then I'd probably be more comfortable in saying he's killing it in developing the analysts too.

Bingo. You either close or you don't. It's a results business.

I can’t believe Addae is still here. That one surprised me.
I mean would it be crazy to think addae could still leave lol? I don't think Mario really gives a **** if a coach were here for Spring practice if ultimately he wanted to make a change. Based on all the evidence for how he takes his sweet *** time, I don't think we can really rule that out. ... But obviously this probably just means Mario still likes Addae, and Guitry is on board with him. Maybe Guitry being on board with him is why he's still here....

Maybe Guidry will decide on who remains and will evaluate him. I don’t think Addae is a bad coach but he 100 % rubbed a number of coaches and recruits wrong. That’s not a “ cis rumor “ and Mario knew that.

Rubbing the recruits wrong is more important than rubbing some coaches wrong *IF those coaches are the ones that are gone. If Addae has chemistry with Guitry and gets along with the rest of the defensive staff and is still viewed as a good X/O coach I can see him staying this year before trying to be a DC somewhere.... Then again clearly he also rubbed people the wrong way at UGA, and given Kirby Smart also was a DB guy and that didn't work out between the two of them, odds are it probably won't work out with Guitry either. Just seems like we'd have very few options for good db coaches willing to move that late in the process. Would probably just end up elevating DVD or some ****.
