I'm not trashing the kid since he decided to show up and work for it, but **** near every kid that earned his offer by showing out at camp and then committing has turned out pretty poorly..Dude doesn't even have a recruiting profile page, sigh
How about welcoming the kid instead of taking time to trash the offer? The kids went to camp and showed enough to the coaches to get offered. We want kids that are willing to compete and work for an offer, that's what he did.
I would love to see a list of kids that committed during a Golden camp and how they turned out so far. Off the top of my head: Dortch, Jontavious Carter, , Vernon Davis, Larry Hope, Jake O'Donnell, Standish Dobard.
List of guys who were offered and committed after camping.
Trayone Gray "Miami Gardens (FL) Carol City High School athlete Trayone Gray landed a Hurricane offer after showing off his skills at today's Al Golden summer camp. Before he left campus he was a Cane commitment."
Courtel Jenkins "Wayne (NJ) De Paul Catholic DT Courtel Jenkins arrived at Sunday's Al Golden Summer Camp hoping for a Hurricane offer. And he impressed coaches so much while there that he had the offer before he got on the plane back home for New Jersey. After talking things over with his family Jenkins arrived at a final college decision today. He has committed to the Miami Hurricanes."
Darrell Langham "They offered him a while ago and he didn't want to commit early," said Santaluces coach Daryl Drinkwater. "But he called me today from the camp and said he was really comfortable with the coaches, what they were trying to do with the program and where they were trying to go."
Ryan Mayes "When Miami Northwestern High School CB/WR Ryan Mayes attended the Al Golden Summer Camp on Sunday, he was hoping for a Cane scholarship offer. He knew what he'd do if he got one: Commit. And that's exactly what happened. Mayes landed the offer he wanted and committed late Monday night."
Darrion Owens "Saturday, Owens traveled to South Florida for an unofficial visit to the Al Golden Summer Camp. It was his first time at Miami, but it will not be his last. Owens committed to Miami coaches Saturday afternoon."
Malik Rosier "Mobile (AL) Faith Academy QB Malik Rosier was on UM's campus earlier this month for an Al Golden summer camp session. After a three-hour meeting with coaches following the camp, Rosier told CaneSport.com that UM had shot to the top of his list. And now Rosier has taken that to the next level, committing to the Hurricanes."
Mike Smith "Saturday morning, while attending yet another session of the Al Golden Summer Camp, Smith decided to tell Golden and Miami coaches that he finally was ready to pull the trigger on his commit."
Juwon Young "Albany (GA) High School LB Juwon Young arrived at UM yesterday for an unofficial visit to Miami. And today he chose the Hurricanes. "It was because of the school atmosphere, the coaches - they told me about the school, were straight up about everything, the academics, how classes are small," Young said. "I committed to coach (Al) Golden - he was just excited, very happy. Coach (Micheal) Barrow also was excited about me committing there, congratulating me on being a Cane." Young took the visit with his uncle and participated in the Al Golden camp today."

Regardless of how some feel about these camps, it is really becoming the back bone of recruiting for this team. It helps in multiple ways, 1 it allows this staff to see underclassmen as well as unknown kids up close and personal. Second, it serves as a unofficial visit for high rated kids allowing this staff to continue to build a relationship with them.
