why dont former players and other alumni raise some money?
Maybe this is why hunt made his donation.
So explain to me why they (AD/BOT) wouldn't just terminate who they want to and tell Golden to deal with it if they're that unhappy?
If he's that angry then he could quite and thus no buy-out is necessary.
because old rich white guys hate being wrong, and they're immensely wrong in this situation. They gave a completely undeserving long term contract to the guy and now there's no way for them to get out of it but by writing the guy a big fat check while he tells them to shove miami up their @ss
Honestly, the BOT deserves this
they're negligent as **** and this is what happens, pay for your ***** up and maybe this time around you'll start paying attention if you learned anything
I am not defending the BOT, but Golden took advantage of them. He knew darn well they had to meet his extension demands as we were smack in the middle of a major NCAA investigation and having our head coach walk on us would have been a huge blow at that time. I just wish they would have given him more $$ for fewer years then a long extension, but that is Monday morning quarterbacking. I will give the BOT some credit in that Golden tried to use the PSU situation last year for another pay increase and BOT told him to go f*ck himself. A few days later the BOT found out that he had already been turned down for the PSU job (prior to him trying to get more $$ from Miami) and that ****ed a whole bunch of members off.
Only a pig pile of dopes would have allowed themselves to be extorted by Folden coming off a 7-6 record with a roster full of experienced NFL talent and a humiliating loss to a terrible BC team. Where the fck was he going to "walk away" to? And, more importantly, how did he prove to be some irreplaceable genius after that miserable first year?
Stop puppeting the party line fed to you by UM shills, and start using your heads.
Negotiating is about leverage and who has the hammer. Folden didn't have **** coming off his horrible failure of a first season. He had no one over the barrel unless they were empty headed rubes.

I'm not so sure. I truly believe that when this NCAA crap hit the fan, Al's attorney basically told the school that withholding all or part of this Shapiro situation was grounds for Golden to tear up his contract and sue them for big damages, and that they'd better pony up, or else. Like I've said before, I wonder if Al's extension came with a hold harmless/waiver of liability agreement that Golden had to sign.

That sounds like a bad tv show drama. All that stuff is ridiculous melodrama and has zero connection to reality in the legal world.

Really? Because I happen to have a law degree and would love to have a client who was fraudulently induced into signing a multimillion dollar, high-profile contract.

I'm pompous?? Ur the one who purported to know what does and does not happen in the "reality of the legal world". Don't cry 'cause u got called out. Go **** ur self, douche bag.

Exactly. It was common knowledge and Shalala even commented publicly that they were aware of the allegations from Shapiro and were fully cooperating with the NCAA long before Golden was ever hired. Are we really supposed to believe that a bunch of idiots on an internet message board knew about Shapiro yet Golden had absolutely no knowledge before he took the job? Bull crap. The premise that Al Golden and his agent had no idea about the Shapiro allegations is laughable.
Brett Senior is one of the best in the business. In fact, he may have actually done more due diligence than Miami on the situation. That is the biggest farce in this whole thing.
If Mr. Senior did not look into it, then he committed malpractice. It was in the f**king newspaper. These were not message board rumors.
The Shapiro thing was the best thing that could have happened to Golden. It helped to disguise his ineptitude by allowing self imposed bowl bans. Two less games for Al to get blown out in. I expect our performance in this bowl to be worse than last if that is possible.
A true mark of an Al Golden football team are late season collapses. This is fueled by a bunch of players realizing by the end of the year coaches are feeding them a bunch of bull****. Playing football for an Al Golden football team really sucks. Passive, slow and unable to adjust.
When the going gets tough....the tough get Folden.

There was clearly no fraudulent inducement. There was no investigation pending when Al was hired, and the school had received zero information from the NCAA after reporting the potential issue. While you might love to have such a client, Al would not have been one.
Cool, you have a law degree. Some of us are seasoned and highly regarded trial attorneys with many years of experience.
The only way they could have a case against Miami would be if they asked Miami to disclose any information they had as part of the agreement and they withheld.
In that case, it would be a simple breach allowing Golden to void the buyout if he left the job. Don't forget, if Golden quits he owes Miami the same amount that we would owe him. That is unless we waive the liquidated damages which we would gladly do.
I think Miami was in denial about the Shapiro thing and ignored it until the Yahoo article was released. It would not surprise me if Golden's people knew more about it than we did. Simone should ask Shapiro if Goldens people approached him.
