Update on BOT / AG info from TG on CS

So explain to me why they (AD/BOT) wouldn't just terminate who they want to and tell Golden to deal with it if they're that unhappy?
If he's that angry then he could quite and thus no buy-out is necessary.

because old rich white guys hate being wrong, and they're immensely wrong in this situation. They gave a completely undeserving long term contract to the guy and now there's no way for them to get out of it but by writing the guy a big fat check while he tells them to shove miami up their @ss

Honestly, the BOT deserves this

they're negligent as **** and this is what happens, pay for your ***** up and maybe this time around you'll start paying attention if you learned anything

I am not defending the BOT, but Golden took advantage of them. He knew darn well they had to meet his extension demands as we were smack in the middle of a major NCAA investigation and having our head coach walk on us would have been a huge blow at that time. I just wish they would have given him more $$ for fewer years then a long extension, but that is Monday morning quarterbacking. I will give the BOT some credit in that Golden tried to use the PSU situation last year for another pay increase and BOT told him to go f*ck himself. A few days later the BOT found out that he had already been turned down for the PSU job (prior to him trying to get more $$ from Miami) and that ****ed a whole bunch of members off.

Only a pig pile of dopes would have allowed themselves to be extorted by Folden coming off a 7-6 record with a roster full of experienced NFL talent and a humiliating loss to a terrible BC team. Where the fck was he going to "walk away" to? And, more importantly, how did he prove to be some irreplaceable genius after that miserable first year?

Stop puppeting the party line fed to you by UM shills, and start using your heads.

Negotiating is about leverage and who has the hammer. Folden didn't have **** coming off his horrible failure of a first season. He had no one over the barrel unless they were empty headed rubes.

This is scary incompetence by our higher-ups.

Golden is BEGGING to get fired and they won't do it for whatever illogical reason.

If Golden was as ruthless as Tuberville, he'd but himself at least one more year by throwing coordinators under the bus.

He is not a winner...doesnt have the balls to be one. He would rather make friends and keep people happy. This is not how you win with the big boys. His coaching approach is better suited for D3

The BOT = The Men & Women of Genius... NOT

One example: they hired Shalala, and continually let her ***** up, and get away with it.

Right now, the BOT are acting like feckless fools; unable to do the obvious right thing.

There is no doubt our alma mater is run by a pig pile of dopes when it comes to athletics and probably other areas that are not as visible as athletics. How can you let a clown coming off a 7-6 season bend you over the sink? This is analogous to taking $3,500.00 on a million dollar case or an adjuster giving you $1,000,000.00 on a $3,500.00 case. Terrible work by the people making decisions at UM.

I can guarantee you that they wouldn't make idiotic decisions like that if they were spending their own money. I don't know the parameters of their fiduciary responsibility to UM, but I would have to think that this has to be a violation of those duties.

Is a it coincidence that every year the team has folded? I think Golden has thought every year he has been here that he was gonna get swooped up after the season and didn't give a flying **** about the last couple games.

Last year before the bowl game all he wanted to do is enjoy Magic Mountain and **** around for a month rather then prepare for UL bc he thought PSU was his for the taking.

**** this guy!!!!

They're not firing him this year. I just don't buy it. They wouldn't be coming out defending him from all the media reports if things were as bad as its made out to be in the OP. Just gotta accept that next year is a throw away year.

Here's the thing, though...if it's a money issue, what difference does one more year make? In other words, let's say for argument's sake that the buyout right now is $5M. I'm guessing it gets prorated each subsequent year, so to keep things simple, it goes down by $1m next year (or maybe a little more). At this rate, is saving $1-2M really worth keeping this clown for another year and potentially costs us more money down the road? Penny wise pound foolish.

Exactky my thoughts on this! Anyway if they buy him out it's usually done in annual payments this allowing for us to break even with a big hire. The merch sales and ticket sales would make up for it.

Ive read in a couple of places, and I have NO IDEA if its the least bit accurate or total bull****, but some have said that the extension does not kick in until after next season, and that his buyout for that is much less than it would be this year.

It may be total bull****, but it would explain why they don't want to do it this year. Otherwise as you and AU have said, it wouldn't make much sense either way. You aren't really saving anything. You are still going to have to eat his salary next season, plus a still significant buyout, and on top of that, you waste a whole year, and have two recruiting classes basically collapse.

Lets face it. The real problem here is that there is no one that really gives a **** about football within the UM administration. James is a fundraising yes man cheerleader "face" who is there to do whatever he is told. He has no juice to push for major changes. Shalala has totally checked out. So basically there is no one at the helm. They are doing well in BB, bringing in the ACC money, and polishing their US News rankings. Life is good for them, the football program is an afterthought.

This is exactly where I'm at. One more year really doesn't matter. If he stays beyond this year I don't see why they fire him next year either unless we go winless.

The BOT doesn't want to pay Al the buyout and they are willing to sacrifice next year's season because of this. His buyout will be considerably less next year and Al is not going to find a big time gig anywhere after that...probably a sub-UTSA caliber program. I can respect the BOT for this somewhat. They're telling Al to go **** himself. As long as they are telling Butch to be ready for 2016, I'm ok with them.

Which is exactly why Al is doing everything he can to get fired right now lol...

Golden is not a ruthless person at all. But he's an astute business person and one-up all these "successful Business people" on that UM board. And yes, already he's bought himself "one more" year, albeit undeservedly, by virtue of his *** tight contract with UM.
