The WR room isn't very good and the two transfers being non-factors and deep on the depth chart is definitely alarming. At best Ladson is 6th on the chart (X, K. Smith, B. Smith, Redding, Brinson - 7th if you count George)...not cracking the real rotation is hard times. Our WR room has been pretty rough, but the transfers we have gotten have been able to come in and really star for us. Ladson is sub-role player at this point.
It never made sense, I think we all thought Ladson was going to be 1 of the 2 WRs we brought in with the next WR being a proven starter but we never landed one.

What did he say?
we've been negative recruited by other schools and former staffers (BMAC) the moment Mario/gattis got here. they're being told that essentially they wont be used much or well in this offense. a lot of quotes you see out there from recruits is I want to see the offense.

I don't get why no other WRs wanted to come here, pretty much everyone else turned us down.
I think timing had a big thing to do with it.. Mario was hired and basically was only coach on staff in december trying to secure early signing day, we missed out on first wave of available WR in portal..

Trey Palmer, Konata Mumpfield, Tayvion Robinson, Johnny Wilson, heck even Jadon Hasslewood were all mostly in portal in Dec and made their decisions quick. We just werent on them as we had no staff and Mario probably was more looking to secure new staff and recruits in high school. Just hope we are ready when portal opens again and teams like USC, Bama, arent focused on snatching top wr this year, lol..

Well **** hopefully we can prove them wrong

And I'm not mad at you, I'm just tired and frustrated, and especially mad at the idiot fan in front of me. And still trying to pass three days of brisket overload.

I joke, I keed, three days of brisket overload is first world problems. It was awesome.

But I did wake up VERY early Sunday morning for Franklin, waited in line for hours in a tailgate chair, then busted *** over to Valentina's (with 5 pounds of various Franklin takeout for the carry-on), only for them to run out of barbacoa when I was two people from the front of the line. I then spent half of Sunday at the Austin airport, where I did manage to spend time at the airport version of Salt Lick, getting back to my house in ATL between 1 am and 2 am on Monday morning...

Brrrrriiiiiiisket...
I was beside a Miami fan belligerently drunk who had to be escorted out. Fun times

This is why I always have said, that once Butch rolled out the Blueprint on Evaluations, Recruiting, development, and most importantly, putting together a Top Notch Staff....UM should never look another way Period. Follow that example, and you'll be just fine. Butch knew his weaknesses...he'll tell you that himself. But what you do to offset them, is to hire Top notch people under you, even if you might have a different approach than them

He tried with Joe Brady and Ken Dorsey.
We dont even know how high Candle was on his board but rumor was he turned Mario down.

Great insight into the Gattis approach to route running, SouthParkCane. Highly doubt that approach of running routes 5 different ways is going to work here. These aren't pros. You only get so much time to work with them. Simple is better. Fluid is better. Full speed is better. The passing game looked way more polished last year (when it was simple). If that type of simple but highly effective passing game is combined with an effective rushing attack (which it now looks like we have), the offense would really improve. Nine (9) points just isn't very good. We will get boatraced by UNC...and beaten by some other ACC teams, if we don't get the offense rolling soon. Everyone always talks down the level of competition in the ACC (and old Corstal), but the ACC has had a lot of quality QBs and scoring is typically fairly robust in most games. Here were last year's scores by our opponents:

Ga Tech: 30
NC State: 30
UVA: 30
VaTech: 26
NC: 45
Pitt: 34
FSU: 31

OK, Duke stank last year & only scored 10.

We'll likely need to score 30 points per game just to be competitive in the ACC...and more than that to win. Against UNC, potentially a lot more than that. We should be targeting basketball scores not squash scores (1st player to 9 points).
There’s a way to get closer to the middle as far as what the kids like and what gattis likes. Plenty of opportunities. I’m not mad at him for teaching his kids to be pros. He just has to realize these are not kids he recruited and adjust

I watched again last night. Some different versions with different camera angles.

Red zone aside, I was wrong.

Certain breakdowns contributing at different positions and some bad route running. Need to coach them up or QB needs to get with his receivers more often

I still think this offense can be way more creative to help the receivers and utilize the TEs more while simplifying things a bit for TVD. He has the time to make the throes. O-line is really good but safeties crash down because they know it’s a run so I think you need to add more RPO options on plays because if not the plays will become too predictable.
You must be new here….

What a world we live in where Miami has trouble landing good to great WRs and CBs

Position coaches matter

its a combo of everything. help the WRs out too bc it isnt all on TVD inability to make a read either. the WRs aren't doing their job either. TVD hasn't looked good and I thought he had a bad game against southern miss beyond everything else. I think you get both units together and get them in more familiar and comfortable situations, it would help everyone. again you can do your install over time as players graduate or leave and more of your recruits come in. till then, you gotta show actual results. if you dont produce w what you have, you aren't getting the next guy to buy in and join your program

If nothing else, get TVD into a rhythm and see what happens.

In all my years of football, young guys do better when you let them get the ball out quick and hit few in a row and have some success. Last year when TVD got into the rhythm he was relaxed and could come down off the primary reads to the check down. Get his confidence up and he probably starts hitting the stuff they have worked on this year.

It would help if Gattis could get receivers into the green grass the defense shows presnap. Some quick curl routes would have opened things up downfield with all that off coverage.

If we can get Key and TVD on the same page, things would go much smoother.

There was more to it than that.

He wasn’t amazing 2019, but he wasn’t terrible. Above average by the end of it.

2020 covid year was a mess and Harbaugh hadn’t secured any quarterbacks capable of running Gattis’ offense. Their defense was bad and put a ton of pressure on Milton and McNamara. I’m sure Gattis made some questionable calls, but they tried to make him the sole fall guy for hometown golden boy Harbaugh’s failures.

The narrative is that Gattis is a three yards and cloud of dust coach. It’s not true. He has 4 and 5 wide sets in his playbook. Harbaugh didn’t secure a quarterback capable of running of running the offense he hired Gattis to run and there were ups and downs. In the interest of saving his job, Harbaugh stepped in and had them run more because that is what the team Harbaugh built did best. That isn’t what he hired Gattis to do.

I’m not throwing the towel in on Gattis because I have seen what his passing game has done with quarterbacks less talented than TVD. His previous installation says things will improve dramatically after a few more games. I am waiting to see if that is t

the one time we went up tempo this year was like our last passing touchdown of the season lol or second to last
