Tim "Ice" Harris staying on staff?? looks like it....

RB Coach is a recruiting spot. Ice doesn't hurt you there.

There's a place for one, MAYBE two, recruiters on staff. The rest need to be legit coaches.

Are we sure Ice isn't a legit coach? His Booker T teams were talented, but they overachieved in many ways.

Yearby and Walton have done a pretty good job in pass protection and the passing game.

He's a HS coach. Miami has too many unproven or green coaches on staff. Other than being from Miami what has he done to earn a spot on this staff? If he was from Indiana he wouldn't have the gig.

Fireswasey....Hs coaches move up to the college ranks all the time see Gus at Auburn he was a HS coach & now HC of a D-1 program
Look at Telly former Central HC now a college RB coach...our great Don Solinger was a High School coach....but that's ok...
Dude coached some of the best HS teams & got a promotion for his work....

Not going to pretend I know who the better coach/recruiting combinations are on the current staff. I do think Coach Richt will give consideration to having a/some local AA representation on his staff.

The Miami coach was at the Florida state championship football game.

A father attended the state championship game for the team his son coaches, where he also once coached.

My biggest question mark is why ice isn't in Atlanta.

Junior is the Arab coach at FIU.

It's hard to say. RB is the easiest position to transfer from HS to college, despite pass pro assignments

I can't remember too many fumbles either. Ice seemed to do his part this season.

Can someone explain to me something:

If recruits only come bc of head coach, and that's why Ice didn't get any recruits, then why do we need him?

We have a new coach who can recruit, so why need Ice??

Ice is a really good coach. We have another coach with the same background and success as Solinger. Like Solinger, Ice Harris teams dominated not only Dade county and Florida but smashed teams nationally.

Ice Harris teams at Booker T and Northwestern were very well coached. To answer your question is simple. Kids and their parents are not going to play for a lame duck coach. Golden had a pretty bad name in S Florida for not allowing kids to play up to their talent level.

Having a Head Coach like Mark Richt, Saban and Urban Meyer makes it easier to recruit because you have credibility and results.

I think a lot of locals involved in football clamor for recruiter types and other locals bc that's how u win high school football down here.

It's no secret that A) the coaching itself in Dade is terrible and B) the teams that recruit best win.

As a result these folks assume that's how it's done in college. Sure recruiting is very important but you can't just sign the best players and think the job is done in college like u can in hs.

Ice about to have two thousand yards running back under his belt. don't understand why he got to go.

I would think the development of guys like wolford, njoku and herndon indicate good coaching up talent and if Scott stayed I would be good with that as probably the players would also.

Recruiters should be at the RB and TE positions on O, and whatever position on D the D-coordinator specializes in.

For RBs, there is minimal teaching....blocking schemes/techniques, ball security, toughness (tough love ala Soldinger). Outside that, you either have it or you don't (vision, speed, agility, patience, etc). You don't teach those things, you just enhance them with film work and fundamental repetition.

For TEs, they can work on blocking with the OL coach and receiving with the WR coach. There really isn't a huge need for a stud TE coach for that reason. The TE coach needs to recruit.

If Lilly is a STUD recruiter as many have mentioned, i think you keep him at TE (does Scott slide to OL coach if he stays?). If McClendon is as well, maybe you bring him and look to bump Ice to an admin role like Baez. I think Beard is not only a great recruiter, but a good coach based on the little i have seen. To me, he's the best "fit" to stay.

You guys give too much **** credit to "coaching" sometimes.

"Look what he did with our Running Backs!"

GTFOH. RB's is literally the easiest position to coach. It's the main spot where you put a guy who's not particularly good at coaching.

And my grandfather could coach his BTW teams, and he's dead! They were miniature D-1 teams for christ sake.

In HS in dade u just recruit the best players and let em play. No real coaching involved, been like that for years. That's why people think that's what works in college and clamor for recruiters. Smh.

Who said anything about race? Sounds like YOU are the one being racist because you automatically dropped the black card when I quoted some awful grammar. Why do you correlate bad grammar with black people? Hmmm?
