Dude's a DE here and not a LB right? Or is he a hybrid or viper or whatever? It would be interesting to see him at MLB.

Yes. Excellent eval by Manny but I'm concerned he will jump to SEC. His senior game clips at LB are unbelievable:

I don't know if he's played LB before, but his play hints to he has. Maybe optimist ball. The way he flows through traffic to get to the ball is so smooth, his feet never get stuck in sand and his hips are always aligned to his gap. He's physical at the point of attack too. He true value will be on 3rd down as a rush LB. At the 1:45 mark look at how he works through 2 blocks to make the TFL. Great hand play and has powerful hands too. Easy 4 ⭐ player. Underrated for now, maybe the reason the SEC is sleeping on him which is great for us.

Wouldn't we all - but we can't sign 5 LBs.

Even if Davis plays MLB and kicks down to Rush End on pass downs, we have zero depth at CB and are a little thin elsewhere. 5 LBs for 2 slots with everyone else we already have is the definition of roster mismanagement.
Davis is a huge talent at DE. Better than anything Rumph is going to get. I understand we need the #s, but you cant let Davis go. Hes too good.

SIGN BOTH HIM AND LEWIS AND OUR SPEED PROBLEM AT LB’ER IS SOLVED.
It's already over! with brooks, huff, tac, troutman, johnson now add davis and t2. We need thumpers like mccloud, jennings, steed, flagg f4 big running teams who have massive olines like bama
We have a nice mix of both. Just bcuz baker is playing da slow guys doesn't mean we don't have speed.

There was a play against Louisville in the red zone where steed read the play perfectly.
the running back snuck out of the backfield to catch a pass on the near side. He spied him perfectly. The only problem was his speed. Even though he anticipated the play he just could not get to him when he caught the the ball. Granted their rb is fast af but it wasn’t even close.
Watching backers with speed yesterday where those plays were held to only a few yards or even no gains or a loss. Our problem with those plays isn’t really football iq or scheme most of the time, it’s lack of speed and lateral quickness at that position.

We need to transpose Flagg or Steed’s head (ability to diagnose plays) on Huff’s body, and we are set. Simple
