Rumor The Rumor Fail Mega Thread

nah. I disagree with the first part heavily

ohio state is only not playing in a conference championship because the big 10 is dumb and put them and michigan on the same side of the division

why should ohio state be left out because they lost one game due to idiotically configured divisions?

I'm not an ohio state fan but it's just incredibly dumb how some of these divisions are configured and some of the same teams find themselves in these conference championship games. They only placed michigan and ohio state on the same side because they knew every year the big 10 title game would end up being a repeat of "the game" which fundamentally is an advantage for the teams in the big 10 west ( who consistently get smoked by the winner of the game)

not a ohio state fan just I don't see the logic in the thinking that because you went to a title game that you should be in

it's a moot point because most conferences are getting rid of divisions in the coming years so it'll solve itself
Ok, putting Utah in may be a stretch, but I would still do it just to f with the big boys.

Divisions will be gone, I think conference championship games will prob be gone soon as well, unless they somehow incorporate it into this 12 team playoff?

Ohio St will most likely get in for sure now. The interesting thing for the committee is going to be how they seed? Lets assume TCU wins.

Georgia v Ohio St?

It might depend on how the three undefeated teams look in their wins. If Georgia wins by a field goal and Michigan dominates, I could see Michigan jumping ahead. But they may avoid that just so there isn't a first round rematch.

well first off they'll keep conference championship games becauase in the new playoff starting in '24, a conference title will be an automatic bid

but yeah, assuming tcu wins i think it'll be

1) uga
2) michigan
3) tcu
4) ohio state

I get it's an unpopular opinion but I think ohio state will beat georgia and michigan will beat tcu

agree with the seeding but Georgia is a better version of Michigan, as seen by last years game. the Blueprint to beat osu is exactly what georgia does well, I think they would beat them handily

not anywhere close to being true, i'm probably seen as more of an optimist on here (admittedly to a fault)

but this is a college football playoff thread and two teams were contending for it with brand new coaches. we also have a brand new coach and we went 5-7

is there a better place than the miami football message board where I can relate our team to other teams in similar situations? I guess we just shouldn't talk about miami at all, that would make everyone feel warm and fuzzy i'm sure
I don't like @WanderFranco
But he's 100% correct on this one and I agree.
There was no need, man. There's a whole bunch of other threads to do that in.

Or there's purgatory.

IF TCU loses, hard to see Bama not in Top 4.

tOSU as well...
TCU will stay in unless they get blown out. The fact that osu is getting in with one loss will be the same reason TCU will.

Bama should not be ahead of Tenn.. not just because of the head to head, but because Tenn beat LSU by 27 and LSU beat bama. Tenn also lost to number 1 Georgia on the road, who bama didn't have to play. Bama's best win is vs #20 Texas and they have zero wins against the top 15. Bama has no argument this year

But yet, at least today, Bama IS IN FRONT of Rockytop.

The Committee is telling us they will justify Bama by any means necessary.

Correct, which is exactly why I think the committee will avoid the backlash and just keep TCU in regardless.

I could make an argument that TCU is a lock just based off the fact that they have 5 wins vs the top 25, went undefeated in the regular season, and their only potential loss is in a conference championship game that none of the teams behind them are playing in.

Bama looked terrible several times this year, as did Georgia vs Missouri, etc.

If TCU had on Oklahoma or Texas helmets, they would be a lock regardless of this outcome

Unfortunately, that's not how it works. It's a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately business.

TCU is undefeated playing in a conference championship vs a top 10 team while the 2 loss teams are sitting at home today. What are you talking about?

"Lately" = "most recently"

If it worked your way, TCU would have already been announced as being in, along with Georgia and Michigan. If K State runs away in the second half, there is absolutely a conversation to be had about who belongs in.

Bama over TN is a tough call mainly because tn has two blowout losses and bama losses are a couple pts each. I don’t know if they are supposed to consider home field considerations but since the tn win was so close at home but their other losses were so bad, there’s an argument to be made at least. It’s splitting hairs but I would say TN should be ranked ahead of bama based on the head to head
