Im sure there are kids there whole lives wanted to be Canes Buckeyes Tigers etc and chose different cause of a better offer. I love Miami but would choose another school for 30,000 more cause the NFL is not guaranteed, I am choosing to take care of my family over anything period. If we were wasting our time we would not try, you would think if the coaches who are interacting with the recruits knew they were wasting their time, why waste it? Because they aren't wasting it
 
It's something how the two losses mentioned in OP's post - 2023 Georgia Tech and 2024 Syracuse - can be traced back to extremely poor decision making on behalf of the Head Coach.

The Tech game is self-explanatory, but UM running the ball down Cuse's throat in the 4th Quarter only to settle for a Field Goal when a TD would have tied the game.

And this is with a playoff spot on the line when our defense had zero answer whatsoever for Cuse's offense.

Guidry's defense was abysmal, but Cristobal's decision-making was inexcusable.

Hetherman better be the real deal and we desperately need both the new secondary portal players to perform and the touted signees from the 2024 class to take the next step. Any lack of progress and we're looking at a death spiral under Cristobal.

12-0 and they still couldn't recruit, fsu fan would push the goalpost back and say but the UGA game they quit that's why recruits didn't come to fsu. LOL all BS and cope, we called it and everyone agreed. But now that its us its a different tune by the same fans

I wanted Lane also, but lets not act like he didnt just choke away the best roster Ole Miss has ever had, and went 9-3 to miss the playoffs.

Facts man guys just looking for a excuse not to go to that program. Now thats its us they better figure out what the problem is and deal with it

So people keep saying. But do we? Specifically, do we have remaining discretionary NIL to compete for these recent recruiiting battles?

The only recent comments I've believed coming from D$'s mouth have been the ones where he talks about how expensive keeping our returning players and landing the offseason portal additions has been. That made sense. Then when I saw us battling for A&M, Georgia, Bama, LSU, Clemson, Oregon, for these recent recruits, I knew something wasn't lining up. Either we're writing with blank checks, or we're going to lose those battles. Whelp, I think we have our answer.

What ****es me off is Mario and the NIL backers should have known they wouldn't be able to pay the suck tax needed to beat out LSU for Brown or pull Stewart away from Clemson. And they should have had quality plan Bs in place. But here we are holding our **** in our hands, and Mario is going to need to scramble for some Mario specials to round out the class. He better pray some of those other head coaches get fired so we can win back a couple of these guys in flips before signing day. Because right now he's looking like he just got beat in checkers and has no idea what chess is.

Win a national championship and the excuse will be “the roster is too loaded. It’s too competitive and too much of a risk for players to join.”
