These mega-conferences are having some now obvious unintended consequences with certain teams getting cakewalk schedules and getting in. Ole Miss, TAMU, UVA, Duke.

And if we're being perfectly honest, their resume is skimpy by SEC standards. They hit the absolute lottery as far as SEC schedules go, and then they lucked out again by LOSING a tiebreaker to get to skip the SEC ship.
Absolutely.

What's maddening about this whole situation is how ******* BAD most of the playoff is this year. Last year, there were actually many very good teams.

This year, it BLOWS after OSU, Indiana, and Georgia. There are so many holey CVs it's disgusting. We need to be lobbying hard, and the conference needs to go all out.

Again, as I've said countless times on this board, I think the ACC will phone it in for Virginia just to get them in the CFP. You'd think Duke's AD would be making calls to the league to say "don't do that," but here's the rub: the ONLY way Duke would have a shot to be a top 5 conference champ is with a win AND a JMU loss. A Duke win in the conference title game- without a CFP berth- almost certainly leaves them with significantly less money (due to revenue sharing) than if UVA gets in the CFP.

That's how perverse all this **** is right now.

That's not a real shot, that's 100.0% reality.

If Duke wins, the ACC will have ZERO teams in the playoff.

All you had to do was sit down when you decided to make this a 400 team league and say, "what's the worst possible scenario? The worst possible scenario is a bunch of teams being tied for Charlotte, and a really bad one emerges and wins the league, and we get shut out. How do we mitigate that? Easy, make tiebreaker #2, or at worst tiebreaker #3, be highest ranked CFP team. That way, no matter what, we'll have our highest ranked teams playing for the title"

But no, they let it get down to "record of all opponents" when Miami and Duke had TWO common opponents! Syracuse and NC State. Utterly ridiculous.
Correct. A two-way tie-breaker is easy with H2H (hear that committee?). It it was us and SMU tied, while it would suck for us, it's an easy tiebreaker. I'm not going to sit here and be a hypocrite about H2H. But once you get to multiple teams, it has to be ranking. Literally allowing your last place team's final game to have any kind of impact on the conference championship is insanely stupid.

Agree with all of this, but I think Oregon is at least as good as Georgia. Georgia barely got by GT…Connelly had it like 28% post game win expectancy.

I would put both Miami and ND in (I think Miami has the best win in college football beating Notre Dame.)

I believe ND is a top 5 team. Here is my case for Oklahoma being out:

- Bama has the worst loss but second best win behind Miami by beating Georgia on the road.
- Bama played a close game vs Auburn but that is a rivalry game on the road vs a good defense.

- Oklahoma should’ve lost to that same team if the officials didn’t egregiously reward them in the end to win that game vs Auburn.

- Struggling with an terrible LSU team with no offense at home in a non rivalry game, GTFOH with 99% chance to be in the playoff. They suck!!

- Oklahoma is playing awful football right now and they will not survive past round 1. If you know ball, which many here do, out teams currently CFP ranked 7-12, I think Oklahoma is 12th.

I agree with @Ghandi - Oklahoma should be the team that gets knocked off. Alabama is 2nd on that list if they lose by 13 or more points to Georgia or if it’s a blow out in which score is closer due to garbage time yards and points.

I posted this before I watch @DMoney’s video.

The CFP committee is orchestrating an epic chess move making the argument about Miami and ND when the actual argument should actually be Miami/ND>> Alabama/Oklahoma.

Deflected the attention off of how the **** those 2 teams pass any kind of "eye test" and lets completely ignore Bama losing to FSU.

IDGAF how good Oklahoma's defense is (Miami's is ranked higher BTW) there's zero chance Oklahoma can win a playoff game against a legitimate opponent that isn't Virginia or G5. Missouri, South Carolina, and Auburn literally can't score points on anyone and they gave up 34 to Ole Miss and 27 to Tennessee (who can't stop a nose bleed). The rest of their wins are Illinois State, Temple, and Kent State. Michigan is a decent win but they're also offensively challenged and play right into their hand.

As 8/9 stands right now, Oklahoma will get run out of the building by ND. Miami would do the same.

My only sliver of hope comes from the fact that we’ve moved up more than anyone and unexpectedly jumped vandy last week after they dominated Kentucky. Hopefully the complete body of work and finishing the season strong puts it into perspective. Miami is playing their best ball right now and if you turn on that Pitt game and don’t see a top 5 team in the country you need to get your eyes checked.

Really shouldn’t be Miami vs ND. ND is top 5 team IMO.

OU sucks. Bama is playing terrible ball. ole miss has no offensive staff.

All are Projected by the SEC shield.

Miami probably beats every team but OSU right now. I would be worried to play OSU, ND, UGA, IU and TTU.

Big money and politics involved, it’s a wrap for us fam. Unless Simpson gets hurt or bama goes down by 3 scores
