this has been my assumption since saturday night. We will be #11 tomorrow and first team out
Absolutely. And if we're being perfectly honest, their resume is skimpy by SEC standards. They hit the absolute lottery as far as SEC schedules go, and then they lucked out again by LOSING a tiebreaker to get to skip the SEC ship.
Correct. A two-way tie-breaker is easy with H2H (hear that committee?). It it was us and SMU tied, while it would suck for us, it's an easy tiebreaker. I'm not going to sit here and be a hypocrite about H2H. But once you get to multiple teams, it has to be ranking. Literally allowing your last place team's final game to have any kind of impact on the conference championship is insanely stupid. That's not a real shot, that's 100.0% reality.
If Duke wins, the ACC will have ZERO teams in the playoff.
All you had to do was sit down when you decided to make this a 400 team league and say, "what's the worst possible scenario? The worst possible scenario is a bunch of teams being tied for Charlotte, and a really bad one emerges and wins the league, and we get shut out. How do we mitigate that? Easy, make tiebreaker #2, or at worst tiebreaker #3, be highest ranked CFP team. That way, no matter what, we'll have our highest ranked teams playing for the title"
But no, they let it get down to "record of all opponents" when Miami and Duke had TWO common opponents! Syracuse and NC State. Utterly ridiculous.
Absolutely.
What's maddening about this whole situation is how ******* BAD most of the playoff is this year. Last year, there were actually many very good teams.
This year, it BLOWS after OSU, Indiana, and Georgia. There are so many holey CVs it's disgusting. We need to be lobbying hard, and the conference needs to go all out.
Again, as I've said countless times on this board, I think the ACC will phone it in for Virginia just to get them in the CFP. You'd think Duke's AD would be making calls to the league to say "don't do that," but here's the rub: the ONLY way Duke would have a shot to be a top 5 conference champ is with a win AND a JMU loss. A Duke win in the conference title game- without a CFP berth- almost certainly leaves them with significantly less money (due to revenue sharing) than if UVA gets in the CFP.
That's how perverse all this **** is right now.
Bama and Georgia switch spots?I agree. It would actually be better for Miami if Bama wins and jumps ND instead of being wedged in-between
I keep hearing **** about our losses to Louisville and SMU. Not a SINGLE concern about losing to ******* FSU? Really??? The SEC propaganda machine working overtime to make everyone forget about that
they went at nd, bama, and byu
