Range is indeed the huge issue, imagine Miami or Houston having hundreds of thousands of EV's trying to evacuate before a major storm?
That’s a fascinating scenario. I remember such a mass evacuation from Galveston in the early 2000s. Both traffic arteries were opened to head north, but there were still jams. All it takes is a handful of stalled, uncharged vehicles.
 
We are years away from EV's with sufficient range, having enough charging stations, etc., so all of these OEM's doing away with ICE cars is absolutely insane. The used car prices are going to be crazy high.
