You want to be like a team that when the playoffs start is yet again going to lose to a spread finesse team. It’s official fella’s we have reached insanity
Nah, Harbaugh is great. How many current coaches have won natty’s in Cfb? How many coaches have been as successful as Jim at schools like San Diego , Stanford who was a doormat joke , took over a mess in SF taking them to a SB, then building Michigan into a constant playoff contender? I think that’s kinda impressive.
Bingo. Also nobody has mentioned that trash *** Michigan who has never won a ship despite having elite talent is that.....Michigan had 338 yards
They were 3-12 on third down
They averaged 4 yards a carry
They scored 30 points, 7 of which was set up by their defense getting an INT deep in OSU territory
This is not an offense or style of football anybody should want to try to emulate.
And the real difference between Michigan and Miami is the floor of the offense under Mario.
I’ve tried to impart this a bunch. But Mario has at minimum 5 negative offensive value games a year. Every year. His entire career. Regardless of OC. Regardless of QB.
He has 3 20+ positive value games for his entire career.
Even Harbaugh’s offensive floor doesn’t collapse to that degree when his man ball bullsh*t isn’t working.
...and Michigan is 12-0 at the end of the regular season lol. Imagine acting like that's not good enough. Y'all flip flop between only caring about wins, and only caring about how we look trying to get those wins.Michigan had 338 yards

It's an effective strategy to beat the wide open "spread high-tempo" offenses. It shows just how low the ceiling is to his offensive style even when it’s working, and how bad things get when it doesn’t work, and it doesn’t work a ton.
And honestly, Harbaugh’s is the same when you look at the ceiling. His teams rarely have these games where they are creating a positive offensive value of 20+. Just like Mario. Because he spends too much time running into bunched boxes and burning plays and putting his offense in third and long too much.
The difference is he’s better at bro-ball.
So while you don’t see a ton of impressive offensive value performances every year when you look at Michigan, you also don’t see these complete floor dropping games. Where there’s not only a ton of negative value games, but they are like double digit negative value games.
And that’s Mario. And until he figures out how to stop that, nothing will matter. And it’s not a question of giving him time to turn us into what he did at Oregon. Because every year at Oregon follows the exact same pattern. Without fail.
Georgia and Oregon are also physical, ball-control offenses. They run efficiently, physically dominate when necessary and protect the ball. They just have an explosive element on top of their ability to control the game. You want to be like a team that when the playoffs start is yet again going to lose to a spread finesse team. People don't want to admit it but we aren't even close to emulating Michigans offense. They run the ball FAR more than we have. It's not even close. Literally like a game ago they didn't pass the ball once in the second half lol. Like look at our WRs vs Michigans, it's not even a competition.
What Michigan is showing is that you can win a **** load of games even with that type of offense y'all hate so much. It's not saying we want to be or should want to be that type of offense. But why does it work for them while we struggled? Cause we turned the ball over, had **** penalties, and a couple dumb coaching decisions. Less fumbles and interceptions + take a knee at end of GTech game = 10 win season.
Physical, ball-control football still wins the games that matter. Miami tried to establish this culture all year. Our OL is actually better than Michigan’s right now- watch how the NFL draft plays out.
Yes, Michigan is the better team overall with the better defense and deeper NFL talent. But the difference should not be as stark as it is. What’s the biggest difference between the two teams? Game management.
Michigan is 5th nationally in fewest giveaways. Miami is 107th. And despite Michigan using a dozen different head coaches, they consistently make better decisions in crucial situations. They also had a smart quarterback who was at his best when his team needed a conversion.
You can’t be a physical, grind-it-out team if you consistently fail to manage the game. The reason Miami is 7-5 is because the coaches and quarterback did not consistently manage the game all season.

When it works, it works very well.
No one criticizes Bama and UGA for doing it.
But CIS GM's say it should only take 1 year because Brohm and other 1st year coaches are doing it too...Also it took Harbaugh more than 3 years to build to this point. They used to get pushed around by OSU and Michigan State so bad he took a pay cut.
It won't happen overnight. Took him a minute to find his quarterback too.
Michigan failed to execute against TCU is why they lost, not style. But it’s not.
It’s why he lost to TCU. That’s the great tragedy of it.
Michigan would have beat TCU last year had they been running what TCU was running.
It’s because they burned so much of the clock and wasted so many possessions running into a crowded box, that TCU was able to upset them.
And TCU was a 3* talent team.
We won't ever know what other playoff teams if Michigan hadn't been in would have lost to TCU.Michigan also plays a bunch of slow *** northern teams.
Iowa is 10-2 this year and about to play in the Big 10 Championship.
What other conference is that even possible?
What other playoff team would have lost to TCU last year?
the vast majority of their players are also smarterMichigan is better at almost every single position, deeper at almost every single position, has better coaches by a mile, and its players look like professionals handling their business every week. Other than that, OP is spot on.
Smarter players and coachesthe vast majority of their players are also smarter
