Tavon Ross has arrived in Miami...

These services are funny. They all scrambled and tacked on extra stars once Bama, UGA, and imam started sniffing around.

I never actually checked what his stars were when he popped on the scene. Im not a big believer in the star obsession. Everyone just said "2 stars" so I assume he was, but I see him having 3 stars everywhere now. Would make perfect sense though, with Bama, UM, and UGA suddenly all over the kid, that the "services" would magically boost his stars.

Most of the time it's just that the services don't know anything about some kids. People cry all the time about our guys falling in the rankings but constantly over the years we get a commit and then all the sudden he gains stars.

A big school gets a commit, highlight tapes circulate. Stars are awarded. Ain't that hard to figure out.

I actually dont think it was our offer that got him the 3rd star, but rather Bama. When its a UM kid, the stars go down or stay the same. There is not enough of subscriber base among UM fans for them to inflate the stars for UM commits. But if the kid is suddenly interested in Bama or OSU or a program with 40-45K students and a huge alumni base, well then its time to sell subscriptions and generate board traffic by adding stars.

Uh yeah, I watched the highlights before I saw his ranking. What a joke.

I did too, and was blown away. Yet another reason why the star system is generally a joke. Its great for high profile kids that schools are after early and everyone is watching and scouting, and play for big programs. But you get a lot of these kids from small towns/ rural areas, poor kids who dont play for big schools, who can be amazing talents, and no one knows jack sh8t about them until the 11th hour. Imagine if that video of him wasnt available and all people had to go on was "2 star" kid from GA.

People are awfully butthurt about our recruiting lately (I'm one) but that doesn't change the fact that our staff has made finds from coast to coast, stars be damned. Now it's still up in the air whether some of those guys live up to it, but constantly we are seeing guys noone knows get looks, or commits from us, and then people see the highlights and are blown away.

We have definitely uncovered some diamonds in the rough, the hard part to deal with though is that we havent really landed that many any of them. Obviously Kaaya, is prime example of one. Eddie Johnson kinda was one, but not really cause he couldnt stay in school.

How about when everyone threw a **** fit about Demetrius Jackson? Now imagine if we had waited?

Just saying, its a roller coaster. We have had PLENTY of highs, we are just in a rut and some people are taking it way too far.

Jackson was a great job by the staff but the 2* was because he had no film to show so it wasnt about who offered him. I also remember before UM got a commit from Mike Smith he had 0 stars and he had monster film but on Rivals they weren't looking at him at all so its got to be about what as a fan you see or as a coach and not what the "star rating" says

Funny thing about that one is that it was Ice that got us on him. That's in no way a swipe at Al and the staff, just pointing out that the guy so many think hates us got us on DJ before anybody else.

Let's see if Chad sticks... My gut tells me that he was talked into looking at FSU and Alabama by... Humm... Guess who... Humm...

Well Lets not forget where His son is going as well. Lastly, having Alabama call your program on a yearly basis makes you look like a superstar coach...

He is doing us NO favors or any school for that matter when his players take trips late in the process...especially when already committed. It's basically a nightmare for a college team in terms of planning and allocating resources... It makes schools have to BABYSIT recruits all the way until signing day instead of trying to take the program forward...!!! It's a waste if time and money...

Could someone please post a link to his highlight reel? I've looked on several threads and can't seem to find it. Thank you.

FYI, UGA is hosting TJ Harrell 4* safety from Tampa and they just offered a few days ago. Ross related? Seems so to me

we were recruiting him as well. Not sure why we fell off, but the kid seems like a solid ath

Tbh it seemed like everybody did including FSU and MSU. I read a lot that he's most likely going to USF but he took this visit quickly so maybe its a sign

Sure. If he's looking, they're looking. It's like this every year all around the country. Teams have a solid list of commits, then there is a last minute shakeup.
