Stop ******* around. We all know Lane is the guy.

The question could also be asked why would either of them leave their current programs considering the success they’re having. Right now I think both are pipe dreams money or no. Realistically, because of the Miami tires Mario would be more likely.
Lanes star QB is gone after this year, along with 17 other starters.

He has house in Miami , reportedly loves the area, and he’d have a young team with a young star at QB. It would make a **** ton of sense for lane to come here.

Here we go with this laser focusing on ONE candidate. Go out and interview multiple candidates and pick the one that works best for the program. Mario and Lane both have positives and negatives, it comes down to what will work best. Honestly, I think that you can get Lane at a far better price point than Mario and Lane has a lower failure probability due to him being a better gameday coach. Mario is a guy that can recruit(With Oregon/Bama money), but he will be a splash hire. The issue is that Mario is mediocre at best on gameday and honestly has enough political cover to where firing him would be a nightmare. That's something that worries me about hiring a former letterwinner. You see how long Manny Diaz was able to ride the "Miami Guy Bro" crap, despite it being obvious by the midpoint of year one that he was incompetent.

Interview at least 5 guys. Have a second round if no one dominates the interview, while also maintaining back channel communications with other candidates, to where you have quality options even if guys drop out or stay where they are at. Let's not overcomplicate this.

why are people concerned over "we will just focus on one guy". its been stated theres a list of guys that has been assembled. and names have started to leak. i dont get it, calm your **** for once, jeez

It's obvious Lane should be the choice. Cristobal runs an archaic offense in Oregon. We'll be in the same position we are now trying to hit a home run on the OC and DC hires. With Lane you'll always have a brilliant offensive coordinator. He might be the most gifted offensive mind in college football.

Hates lakes, misses the ocean fishing, is smug enough to think Ole Miss is beneath him, etc. Any coach that gets us to elite status again will be immortalized.

The obvious choice for the job at both LSU and Texas was Tom Herman. How did that work out? Nebraska and Scott Frost. Going swimmingly I think. Mario is an obvious choice for anyone who refuses to analyze the circumstances of Oregon's ascent. They've basically been playing in a group of 5 conference the last 3-4 years. The Pac-12 does not care about football. We'll see if USC gets their act together. And he needed Washington to come down with covid for him to play in the title game last year. People want to give him all this credit for a season where he went 4-3 and beat zombie Clay Helton in the title game. Ok.

You're not just gonna port whatever works at Oregon to Miami.
And what has Lane done? FAU? He **** on every other program he was at as a head coach.

I'd be thrilled with either Mario or Lane at this point. Both would be different level hires than UM has made in the past

This guy would be a step up from what we have had in the past.
