Stat of the season

Miami is now 126th in the nation in turnovers. Terrible for any team, poison for a team that is trying to run the ball and play complementary football.

And this is not to blame one player- it is a team stat that falls on the players and coaches.
Here's how crushing this stat is. Miami is T-121 in turnovers lost. But they are tied for 29th in Turnovers gained. in order to overcome turning the ball over, the team has to be in the top 5 of creating and getting turnovers in order to have a chance. That's how crucial turning the ball over is in football (and basketball too for that matter).

12 for TVD? 11 INTs & 1 fumble

Sounds right. And to be completely and 100.0% fair, 3 of these came on the last plays of games that didn't matter at all.

However, even if you take 3 off the total, we've still turned it over 13 times in 5 ACC games. Which is still bottom 7 in the country.

As it stands today, including those 3 turnovers, only Nebraska has more turnovers in conference games IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY, and they've played 1 more game than we have. For teams that have played 5 conference games, nobody has more turnovers than Miami's 16.

So basically these coaches don’t think Emory or JB can protect the ball enough to not throw 10 interceptions?

Than they are stealing money and should be fired immediately.
JB doesn't want to play this year. We have two QBs at Miami even with three on the roster. 2 of the 3 will transfer.

In defense of the penalties...there has been a noticeable change (for the better) with focused disciplined play by Miami defenders last several games.

Much less showboating after every hot and tackle, much more business-like and next play demeanor.

So...I'd like to see a slice and dice of this stat of where does Miami rank (at least defensive penalties) for the last 3 games, I suspect much improved.

And he didn’t even play in one of those games…

GT: 3 turnovers (another dropped INT)
UNC: 2 turnovers
UVA: 2 turnovers (another dropped INT)
NC State: 4 turnovers (another dropped INT)

11 total turnovers in 4 acc games for our QB. This dude is a shell of himself, and the more time that passes it looks like Mario is a shell of himself too. All that passion he had when he showed up looks lost…. This feels exactly like Manny before Manny was canned, only difference is it’s only year 2.

The 16th turnover was technically George at the end of the GT game.

TVD: 10 INTs + 1 fumble
Lee/TVD: snap fumble UNC
Chaney - GT
Parrish - UNC
George - GT on last play
Emory INT - almost a punt

Van Dyke has ten interceptions and two fumbles the past three starts.... we can blame one player at this rate. Yes there are other issues, but none more glaring.

2021, seems sooooooo long ago. Imagine THAT TVD this year?

There’s a lot of luck when it comes to turnovers.

But it’s not like the offense was driving up and down the field against NC State and bad luck killed the drive.
There’s an element of luck when it comes to fumbles. Not so much on interceptions. These aren’t tipped balls, or 50/50 balls we’re seeing. They are poorly thrown or poorly run routes.
