Official Spring PractiSe #4: Tuesday, March 21

Concern is who is producing explosives from any of that list? Anything being done to make the team faster?
In 2022
Parrish- 4.7ypr
Chaney- 4ypr (injured)

Restrepo 11ypc
George- 10ypc (more explosive 2y ago)
Young- 11ypc
Smith- 9.8ypc

Skinner- 14ypc
Arroyo- 13ypc (injured)
McCormick has 4 TD's in 6 years
We definitely need to croot speed

I think breaking it up is the perfect way to do it. In theory guys should be using that week to really get the playbook down that were just seeing on the field. Allowing them to practice faster after the break. IN THEORY anyway
I always assumed it was so that both the coaches and players would have a few days to get an idea on where things stood (player development, playbook understanding, etc) and then use the week off to concentrate on areas of the playbook they might not be as strong, plan future practices based on what they saw so far, come up with depth chart combinations, etc.

I'm not concerned about this with Gattis gone. So long as TVD can build confidence with a few WRs, we should see big numbers.
Dawson only had a pair of 15's and a 12 last year at Houston, easier conference with less scouting going on and a guy he had starting for him for 4y at QB.
Clemson's offense was terrible and had a 17, 13, and 12- for perspective

Gonna be real hard to convince someone to transfer here to be a backup. Most guys are in the portal for playing time. Same goes for running back.
Outside of Cohen and Lee who are you implying has cemented themselves a starting spot? Rivers, Cooper and the vacant RT should all have open competitions. At least on a winning team they should.

Kam is going be a top pick. He has it all and now with Gurdy oh man is he going to eat.

Some notes from Lake:

First Team: QB Tyler Van Dyke, RB Henry Parrish, WR Colbie Young, WR Jacolby George, WR Xavier Restrepo, TE Cam McCormick, LT Jalen Rivers, LG Javion Cohen, C Matt Lee, RG Anez Cooper, and RT Francis Mauigoa

- Second Team: QB Jacurri Brown, RB Don Chaney Jr., WR Isaiah Horton, WR Robby Washington, WR Brashard Smith, TE Jaleel Skinner, LT Samson Okunlola, LG Laurance Seymore, C Ryan Rodriguez, RG Logan Sagapolu RT Michael McLaughlin

He mentioned the QBS all looked sharp today

Mauigoa and Keontra Smith were at 1st team LB. Flagg and Bissainthe were 2nd team

Mesidor was fully back today, too

But does he have a breakdown of their Spring Break destinations?

The staff really likes the 1st team guys according to posters much more connected than me. They’re not looking for linemen to replace anyone in line for a starting spot.

I’m just going off what I’ve seen reported here.

What I know teams use to go home for the summer. Only some players stayed all year. Jimmie Johnson (imagine that) got everybody to stay for the summer. If you recruit guys that cant be there all the time you recruited the wrong guy.

Rivers will be supplanted by Okunlola. If that’s near the end of spring, fall camp, or in the season is obviously going to come down to how well Okunlola shows out in pads.

By the end of the year, it’ll be
LT - Okunlola
LG - Cohen
C - Lee
RG - Cooper (he’s showing he’s all business transforming his body)
RT - Mauigoa

I dont care how ling Rivers or Nelson have been here, how many starts they have, or what they’ve in the past.

I don’t think the coaches care and you shouldn’t either.

Nelson and Rivers don’t win you titles. Players like Mauigoa and Okunlola do.

Yes. I meant that the coaches aren't looking to bring in anyone to challenge for a starting spot. They have 7 or 8 guys (depending on Nelson's health) that they feel are capable of starting and none of those guys are getting passed by a transfer. If they were to bring in another O lineman, it would be purely for depth purposes.
