Some News From Campus

Ted, under what grounds is the resistance to his firing occurring in your opinion? Is it primarily financially driven ( not wanting to pay the buyout plus hiring another coach) or is there still any " let's give him more time" sentiment ( would think that's evaporate at this point?)

It's both. His buyout is ludicrous and Golden has some cult like followers. Shawn Eischort or whatever his name is should be flayed.

I guess it all comes down to what side of this Stuart Miller is on. These BOT members need to buy a phucking clue. I really don't give a flying ***** how ridiculous his buyout is. Al Golden must be let go one way or another. There is no option. Any scenario that has Fat Al coaching here next year is completely unacceptable! Scapegoating staff does absolutely nothing nothing nothing! It's 2 years too late for that. Also I would like to know who his "cult like followers" are.

TedHendricksOffspring,

I'm not sure the BOT or Mr. Miller himself realize how toxic this situation is. This fan base is utterly disgusted and we are dead serious about this. I don't think these people have any idea just how nasty things are going to get and are severely underestimating the financial backlash they will receive if they do not part ways with Golden. If Golden is retained get ready for a full on total boycott of UM football. We're are in no mood to play this time.

@CanesAreAble: Not happening. Eischort might be on the Hot Seat himself.

@FrancisSawyer: Miller has a lot of the pull but it's not only up to him. A lot of high ranking people think the fan base is bluffing and that will blow up in their face.

@Consigliere: About 8 million.

@Everybody In General: This is not over. That's all I got.

8 Million. I don't buy it. No disrespect. That would be incredibly stupid.

TedHendricks,

Curious... Has any of the admin seen or heard about Fat Manny's editorial yesterday and how they are perceived to the fans? Once the Media starts turning on you then your screwed. They control your perception ...

If his buyout is actually $8 million (which is unbelievably high when you consider the standard is like 10-30% of remaining contract), there is no way we're firing him this year unless we can get a negotiated settlement.

I wouldn't be surprised. He had the school by the balls and when you have dumb **** ADs and admins running the show I wouldn't be surprised if they simply gave him what he wanted. Bunch of clowns running things there.

He also had his agent leak bull**** stories about how UCLA and Wisconsin wanted him. He played it perfectly and now they refuse to fire his fat ***. What a disaster the last 3 ADs have been and that is due to Shalala and her bull**** hiring.

At 8 Million the buy out is basically paying Goldens salary from the time he's fired until 2020.

After 6-6 record how in the world was this signed off?

We didn't get the death penalty but Shapiro might have killed the program anyway.

He is signed through the end of the 2019 season (Jan/Feb 2020). That's 5 more seasons. His full salary would be well over $8 million over that time. That said, $8 million is beyond ridiculous. Even though it's ridiculous, it should be done. Immediately. There is a chance Golden does not want a "fired for failure" on his resume, so it may be possible to negotiate that down. It also may be possible to negotiate a discount from the present value for a lump sum payment. Considering $8 million over 5 years is the max owed, there is only one way to go from there in anything resembling a negotiation.

The national media is amazed that Brady Hoke is getting $5 mil to not coach at Michigan and that Muscorch got $6 mil to leave UiF. The fact that we'd demolish both of those schools in buyout amounts is sooooo believable that it doesn't even make me mad any longer. Just numb to the potential for constant ineptitude.

8 mil buyout to me means we really need another school to offer him..and have them pay us like a lil to buy his contract from us

If you're talking purely football then yes... But, don't forget about Perry Clark, and what a horrible job he did with the basketball program

This is the most obvious "fire this guy" situation we've ever had at UM in the modern era. And they're ***** footing around, and he's not going to get fired. Unreal.

8 million to me means that the school is run by retards and should lose it's school ranking. That is almost half his contract. No buy out is that good unless you are Saban or Ferentz or the Colorado State guy.

The buyout is not $8 million. The buyout is $3.5 million.

No, you're wrong. It's most likely in the 7-8 million range. His agent is one of the best in the business and, no doubt, ran circles around our ****** admin.

Also, we will NOT fire Golden. The University does not want to deal with any backlash from the national media for letting go of him after he stuck with us through the "cloud." However, Golden has been told that he is free to look elsewhere for another HC gig. Brett (his agent) has already put out feelers to Rutgers (Flood could be getting fired), BC (if Addazio bolts for a better opportunity), as those are two gigs Golden would prefer. Other possibilities could be Indiana, Iowa State, Colorado & Northwestern.

That's dumb. There would be zero media backlash after this season. None. The media has been busy showing why he should be fired.

Really? Do you not listen to the national media and their perception they have of Golden? Why do you think Golden's name is always brought up with HC jobs that we all know he is not qualified for? While our fan base knows what Golden is, the national media does not. They have propped him up. Why? Because he is an eloquent speaker and what they believe to be a great leader. His image is WELL RESPECTED around the country by many.

Stop looking at this from the perspective of a Hurricanes fan. Look at it from how everyone else who does not follow our program at all is looking at it. Everyone around the country thinks that we have not been successful for the most part due to this "cloud.". They all believe we have suffered some sort of serious sanctions. The truth of the matter is that in Goldens first three years he did not serve 1 scholarship reduction. This year is the first we are taking a hit (7). After this year we only have two more to serve how we choose over the next two years. But that's not what the country believes. It has been placed in their heads by our HC, our ADMIN and the national media that we have been suffering for years now because of the "cloud." Perception is reality and our perception from a national standpoint is that Golden has been hindered due to the "cloud."

If Golden is gone, it will happen in the next week and I can assure you that he will NOT be fired. He will have left on his own for another position if he leaves. But I can assure you he has not only been told to look elsewhere and he'd be free to go, but that his agent started actively looking yesterday for a new home for Golden.

Um... He's not going to Anywhere in the B1G unless its Michigan or Nebraska which are both long shots. now to BC or Rutgers maybe but Flood ain't getting fired and who's gonna Hire Addazio? He's already at his ceiling.

So unless we fire him - we're stuck with him

For the Record.. 3.5M ain't ****...
