--The Fins have the worst (or near the worst) attendance figures in the NFL. This includes teams like the Texans, who have worse records over the course of the last few years.
--UM can't fill its stadium regularly even in the best of years.

Even apart from attendance figures, the fact is that Miami is full of people who are fans of other teams. There are more Yankees fans in Miami than Marlins fans. More UF/FSU fans than UM fans. More Giants/Jets/Pats fans than Dolphin fans. More Knicks, Bulls, Celtics, and Lakers fans than hardcore Heat fans (pre-Lebron).
