Shots fired! Butch putting it on AL

Who on the current roster would Butch have recruited? Very few. I don't see many in Butch's mold of smart, NFL-bodied, ultra-competitve players who are leaders of men.

Here's the difference.

Butch doesn't just recruit great athletes. Butch DEVELOPS leadership. In his players, in his coaches, in his assistants.

I'd love to see how many of our current recruits would have been stars had they had been developed as leaders under the Grand Master.

It would be a completely different team.

A bit of a philosophical thing as to developing leadership...To me, leaders are naturally born.

I think Butch would be able to get more of what is there, but only so much. These players are not Butch-caliber. Of the ~80 on scholarship, less than 10, Butch would have taken.

I don't know about the born leadership thing being so certain. I've seen a lot of asssholes who thought they were leaders and born to it who couldn't lead a breakout from a two-hole sihthouse.

Then I've seen primitives who when taught the need and importance of leadership, and encouraged to lead, turned into unbelievable leaders. After all, self-command is the hardest command.

You see, the very best leaders have self command first and foremost. You find a group of good athletes with self command, you have a group of leaders by example, and the coach sets up expectations well beyond individuals physical or mental capabilities. And when you prove they can actually obtain what they believed was impossible, you move your expectations. That's what Butch does.

Many can be inspired. Not many can inspire.

Less than 10? That's laughable. Butch would have probably taken over half. Its's the bottom half of players that would be different. There is a big drop off between the starters and their backups. This is where the team is lacking and why there is a huge dropoff at the end of each season. The reason there are few superstar players (Duke, Flowers, Perryman, Walford) is because of scheme. Guys like Carter, Howard, Bush, Chickillo ARE superstar level guys that can't flourish in the scheme. Scheme and wasting scholarships on reach high school players is a problem. The reaches should be coming from JUCO so they can either play immediately and are here for 2 years covering kickoffs. Taking late reaches from high school means 5 years of a wasted scholarship or more roster turnover from noncontributors.

Why would he say "It has to be the talent level" when asked the reason for Miami's woes? Why would he say "somebody's not evaluating the talent...those at UM are not good players"?

I agree man. Our talent is really lacking across the board. Clearly evident to me when watching.

Because these kids that they are recruiting are talented when they come in but become neutered by this coaching staff. They begin to take on Golden's passive persona and lose that killer instinct that they came in with. No dog in them!

Exactly as I have said, we do not have talent to compete. Ray Charles could see this, does not take Butch to reiterate it, but i guess with him saying it now, everyone will believe it.

Explain how that is possible when our recruiting is better than everyone we play short of FSU.

Will anybody answer this qustion?

According to the services, Miami is only behind FSU, but this doesn't tell the whole story. We all know that countless 4 and 5 star players don't live up to their status at the college level.
Al has gotten a lot of these players.

cause our mutha****in coaches suck. still a fine line between d1 athletes. its not like kids from wake forest or w/e cant play, they just arent quite as talented, but get some imposter who has a management style like a 24 year old fresh college graduate and 300 pages of bull****, all of the sudden that talent starts smellin bull**** and decides it wont play for him. its not hard to see. i still dont get how some of these coaches are that goddamned stupid. kids know the difference between someone who might be wrong sometimes, but still has their best interest in mind and someone who is full of ****. ag is completely full of the ripest horse**** and those kids know it.

you guys keep claiming we're behind FSU... lol... yeah we're behind when it comes to coaching but we had the talent to compete and win the ACC this year... SMH @ you knuckle headz...

Because the talent level appears low because the players aren't used right. Asante Cleveland, Justin Renfrow, and Luther Robinson are in the NFL. Wrap your head around that.

Do an internet search for U of Miami Board of Trustees and two interesting names popped out.First,we all
know Bernard Kosar, former U QB.Behind the scenes,if Bernie loudly complained about the Cleveland Browns
how much **** is he raising about the U coaching staff?Second name of interest who knows FB is Marc
Buoncontti. So behind the locked doors, some people are screaming murder!
Does anyone want to take bets on what happens after the Dec.27th bowl game.

I would bet on nothing. It will all be quiet for a while after the game. Crickets.

Those guys are barely bit players... they're probably not even gonna be in the NFL in 3 years.

I don't disagree that the coaches are not maximizing what they have, but I think Butch can see talent, coaching or not.

Looks like that guy Harvey Chaplin could turn Miami into the Yankees if he wanted to.

The problem is that many of the most generous BOTs despise sports and in particular, football. There is a struggle but the big $ comes in against athletics.

we are a legit laughing stock of college football. billy's documentary only made it worse because the avg person is saying "Butch is available and they have an Al Golden?"

I thought the same thing... It was the wrong timing for that doc to come out... I see if we had just won the NC, but coming off a 6-6 season.. smh..

We deserve to be a laughing stock. Golden using his dik to hit them in their faces and their taking it and smiling. There are no winners in that program structure. All lalala kumbaya hoping for stuff to get better while they are happy collecting ACC checks and tout academic rankings. F'ing pathetic

I do NOT think Butch would have done such a pointed interview if someone on the Board hadn't told him to give Golden a hard time. This was arranged.

I was surprised he said all he did as well. I like to imagine how it's going over in the the Golden camp. At least we know Golden is feeling some pressure from former Canes coach calling him out. Johnson actually endorsed Golden but at least Davis told it like it is.
