Scrimmage Report

Man...the Duke Johnson era is going to go by way too fast. Gotta enjoy it while he's here.

Kirby and Crow probably most encouraging for me.

Losing Paul and likely EJ is brutal for our LB depth, which would have been outstanding so Kirby must step up. He has all the talent for sure.

Crow is just great news, don't care if its just scrimmages and practices. Sounds like he has made leaps and bounds and we desperately need someone to battle Olsen next year for then starting job. Williams is solid but IMO his ceiling isn't a kid who can lead us to BCS wins. Could he wrong of course.

Did I see Flowers and Bunche playing LT and LG together in that video?

Holy **** they're gonna maul some fools next year.

At what spot was Kirby playing? LB is going to be a stength this year.

MIKE.

Even with the loss of Eddie Johnson and Gianni Paul (who I never liked very much), this is a unit to be excited about. Here's how I'd expect the group to shake out:

WLB- Perryman/Grace
MLB- Kirby/Gaines
SLB- Figueroa/McCord/Bond

Grace is one guy I'm counting on to come in and contribute. I think his IQ and smooth athleticism will get him on the field, especially in passing situations. The group above has plus athleticism across the board and has a nice combination of thumpers, chase guys, cover guys and pass rushers. It's also a knucklehead-free group (knock on wood).

D - so perryman is back at OLB for good now? I think that's his natural position.

Yeah, Grace will be counted on next year. Where's Cameron at to give us an update on his weight? I hope he's been getting bigger so he holds up next season.

Agreed and at this point I have no reason to think Bond won't come right in and make an impact as well. They seem to be nailing some of these evaluations.

How did the DB's look? Heard Howard really struggled.

I think that's overplayed. Howard had good coverage on guys, just didn't make the plays on the ball. Nothing to get too worked up about.

The group looked good. The starters were Gunter, Crawford, Bush and Highsmith, although I'd be shocked and disappointed if Jenkins doesn't win that job.
