Scrimmage Report

I'm going to assume th point of this pic is the lovely young lady just over the right shoulder of the dude in the green jacket.

Man, that's Chip swagging over everybody's life.

It's hard to get a read on the DL getting pressure since they can't get near the QB, but how would you say the DL looked getting after the passer?

How did the DB's look? Heard Howard really struggled.

I think that's overplayed. Howard had good coverage on guys, just didn't make the plays on the ball. Nothing to get too worked up about.

The group looked good. The starters were Gunter, Crawford, Bush and Highsmith, although I'd be shocked and disappointed if Jenkins doesn't win that job.

Right and to keep it in perspective there's a lot of NFL guys salivating over David Amerson and Morris made him look like a child out there last year.

That's chip? Well, if he really were swagging then he'd be a couple rows back with his arm around said girl. But no, he's making toilet splatter faces at the camera. I will give him credit for the enthusiasm and attire, though.

Man...the Duke Johnson era is going to go by way too fast. Gotta enjoy it while he's here.

Lulz at Chip Brierre giving me a grey bar for this

Probably a +rep due to his non rep. I didn't know the legend himself was a member here.

Yeah, I doubt it's actually him.

So he joined an hour ago? Make it true, Chip, make it true.

Good to hear. This is the group i'm most excited about. Bush could be an all american this year if he stays healthy. Hopefully Howard turns into the player we all thought he would be this year.

There was a really good ongoing battle in that scrimmage between Rashaun Scott and Tracy Howard. Scott got the better of it last nite but its not like anyone was dominating anyone. It was just really good competition.

I specifically remember one play where Ryan Williams threw a beautiful back shoulder ball to Rashaun Scott who was running a fly pattern down the sideline. Tracy Howard was on him like a cheap suit but Rashaun was able to make a last second adjustment and make the catch. Tracy Howard couldnt get his head around in time to make a play on the ball but made the tackle almost immediately.

Just all around good ****!!

I should add Antonio Crawford to my short list. Thought he would play a lot last year but still, he has a ton of upside.

Thanks too all for the scrimmage reports. One guy that I really was hoping would work his way into the rotation at LB is Blue. Will he be adding some reliable depth this year and I'm sure special teams duties? Haven't heard a thing on him. Gabe terry news and info is very rare as well. Any news on how that bad assssssssss is doing? Thanks again guys.

The first-team offense got off several snaps while the defense was still lining up.

Don´t like this. In 2012, we were the only team I had ever seen this happen to regularly. As an isolated event in a scrimmage, I wouldn´t be too concerned by it.But it´s something that has been happening a lot in real games, so it´s obviously a (unnecasary) problem. D´Onofrio has to get a handle on it.

Did it happen when the D was looking to the sideline?

Dunno how it helps to have the D turn back just in time to look at the offense just as the ball is being snapped? I think a coach can manage tactics and make adjustments on game day, but it is a little late to be micro managing from the sidelines.

Last year it was common for some teams to look to the sideline on almost every play. I would have the O walk up to the line, set, then try to immediately snap the ball while the D is looking to their sideline.

mike,
Blue has been mostly playing with the third team in the scrimmages. Terry hurt his ankle in the Duke game and hasn't played this spring.

Honestly, I don't remember the plays to that detail. But my impression at the time was that the offense was just playing with a real good pace.

Thanks, like the notion of keeping the D on their heels by giving them the shortest possible look.

The best news for me was the return of Scott.
I felt he was our best shot at a game changer and was really upset about him being suspended.

Thanks for the coverage guys. I wish I could just drive over and watch our guys. Sucks being up here in the north.

Scott the best on the team running the slant route
big body kid ,who can play position ball

If Scott plays in Virginia game last season
that last 3rd play would have gone to Scott
our chance of completing the pass(slant to Herb) and winning the game goes up
