Rumours about Chip Kelly to UF

I guess it's not that strange that some of our posters don't understand the way college football works. Ok, let me break this down: whatever head coach picks UF has to be a part time politician. It requires big time schmoozing with boosters and *** kissing. It's an SEC pressure cooker, where if you don't win immediately, you are out. Oh, and you have to recruit in an area that some of the best recruiters in college football call home. Kelly hates recruiting, hates playing the game with boosters, would be playing in a conference that has shut down his offense every single time, hates the college football schedule grind, and has zero recruiting ties in Florida. He's a smart dude. He's not picking UF, unfortunately for us because he would be Larry Coker without the personality and lead UF straight down the toilet for the next decade.

I'm so confused by this trope, Kelly played the SEC three times in 4 years. He destroyed Tennessee the first game, lost the Natty to Auburn by 3 and lost to a 13-1 LSU team that should have won the Natty, and his offense scored more against that team than anyone else that year.

Sample sizes people.

I think I recall this being said about Gus Malzahn's offenses too. He has been pretty successful with it against top SEC defenses. Get the right kind of qb/athletes and Kelly can run that rpo/spread/tempo system and be successful in the SEC.

Oh yeah? Malzahn is coming off three straight years of five or more losses. He has 20 losses in his five seasons.

When the UiF presser comes today and it's just Ol' Radio reading off a list of upper extremity injuries the nervous butthurt in Gainesville is only going to be topped when UCLA announces an unscheduled press conference for Wednesday.

I'm calling a tagteam of Chuckie Weak and Radio as their eventual hire with another clown as OC. It's too bad Kiffin is too big time to take another coordinator job. Maybe Luigi is ready to come back to the state? Hahaha.

That said, imo Chipster would obviously be the biggest "splash" but what level of patience would these deludinoids even have with him and his weird reserved demeanor too- especially with McEltoof having actually won the SEC East recently. Are they cool not winning it again immediately. Not winning it again in 2 years?

Frost has the bigger longterm upside there. And he's still essentially an unknown entity on the big stage.

Gawd, I LOVE having stability in a head coach.

I seem to remember the same types of conversations being had about how Urban's offense wouldn't work against the SEC defenses and that seemed to work out pretty well for them. They could do a lot worse than Kelly. Hopefully he leaves them hanging and flips to UCLA last minute. That would be sweet. Fug the Turds!

According to a source, Kelly and UF have not reached any kind of agreement. The source said Kelly wants to talk to UCLA, which fired Jim Mora on Sunday.

I want the Manchurian Candidate-Randy-to take over at UF. It would be like the Universe was trolling the gators.

I will continue to maintain that Kiffin is the best hire for UF. They won't do any better.

Lane had a sit down on Gameday this week and didn't sound at all like a man who wanted to change jobs again right away.

Seems like he's pretty humbled finally, I doubt he bails on FAU for UF.

I believe Chip is Ufags new coach, but it shouldn’t steal the excitement of the Season our Canes are having. We are 4 wins away from a 6th ring

Lol what? Wouldn't leave FAU for UF?

This board never ceases to amaze me.

I saw that also. Either way Chip is using UCLA or the turds to leverage more money from the one he wants to coach at. Standard move by a coach that could pick just about any open job he wants right now.

It was done last night. It is signed. Done. UF making the announcement on their own timeline. You don't send the university president to negotiate. You send him to bring the thing home once it's been agreed upon.

****! I don't know where you got that word from, but I'm stealing it.

Why are you so enthralled with this coaching hire?

So there’s nothing to the reports that he’s meeting with UCLA?

It’s an opportunity for a self-important windbag to pretend he has some kind of information that the rest of us don’t.

P.S. you have ZERO inside sources.
