Ruiz potentially suing the NCAA….

I love the reference. In between was Paul Castellano and we know how he was taken out. Where would he fit into your analogy of boosters and mobsters?
Castellano's undoing was him vehemently against Drugs...(old-school mindset) my sister lives in Staten Island 3 blks from where he lived. And she was living within 3 blks in Brooklyn when Carmine Galente was hit in 79.

I read the book by the FBI agents who tapped Castellano’s phone; Boss of Bosses. Great read if you like this stuff, and you and @SWFLHurricane definitely do. After reading the book I felt that Corleone was loosely based on Castellano; big house in States Island, the kids, dead set against drugs.

I also read the Godfather. If you have not read it, do yourself a favor and read it. It is as good or better than the movie and explains more about Johnny’s story in LA, and Luca’s backstory.

Wasn’t Castellano known as the gentleman Don?

God, I read The Godfather when I was in high school. Maybe I’ll reread it again someday.

I read the Godfather back in the 70s....My Mom met Mario Puzo in the early 70s in NYC.

At no point did I ever pretend to know **** about finance lol I’m just a ***** who works 9-5

But I know he owes a bunch and hasn’t done it yet rite?
Incorrect assumption(s). In the end he probably won't be worth billions but he'll be worth enough.

i read it over 10 times since my grandmother bought the book for me in 1972 +/-.. have passages still memorized. great book.

That and didn’t he get a new shlong and all the fellas found out?

Never heard that. I do know he was having an affair with the maid (not uncommon) but the No Drug policy didn't sit well with Gotti and others.
@Brock Berlin is correct. In Boss of bosses, from the bugging of his home it was learned that he had some artificial device/pump because he couldn’t get it up. Today it would be viagra and no one would know or care, but back then it was a big deal.

iIRC they bugged his car radio and that's where a lot of the business stuff came out

And his house. They put a bug into a lamp. It was like from a movie. FBI snuck in, drugged the dogs and gained access and planted a few bugs, house and car. Like the lamp in the Sopranos.

I mean, I’m not eagerly anticipating any of our boosters missing their payments. Seems like some people just can’t wait for him to fall flat on his face. I guess people just want to be right rather than wanting what’s best for the players.

Posters here 💯 want him to fail so they are right about something. He’s now a mob boss…

i think theyre two separate things. he is 100 percent set for the rest of his and kids lfietime with the merger. he did get a cash payout if im not mistaken (i gotta double check). his business health may not be great (he always still has his law firm which will always make him money at this point but im speaking on lfiewallet), but his personal wealth will be completely fine and itll be whether he still wants to shell out 10 mill a year on NIL deals

YET

If these articles that keep popping lately are any indication id GUESS he will be having some big time financial waves coming ashore soon enough.

But hey maybe FP&L will bail him out in that case for all I know.

But there are a lot of big time donors at each school writing checks in the background. Ruiz wanting to put everything out there to promote himself, LW, and Miami while good for us seemed like it eventually would draw the wrong attention.

And I don’t know too many big time boosters at recruiting powerhouses like Bama, UGA, Ohio State etc that are up at 3am arguing with random *** fans on the daily. Red flag to me….but I’m just speaking for myself

Look, I'm not mad at anyone, but soooo many people do not understand how publicly-traded companies and "stock prices" actually work.

LOTS of companies, like Amazon and Google and Netflix, lost money FOR YEARS, and the stock price was not nearly as gaudy as it is today.

Yes, the "stock price" of LifeWallet is low. And the first-year revenue is low. But without knowing all of the other elements, and how much cash is available from a variety of sources, nobody has ANY IDEA of whether the ADVERTISING BUDGET of LifeWallet will last 10 months or 10 years.

I hope that Mr. Ruiz hires a great CFO and maybe even a great CEO to help him navigate his challenges. But people need to stop looking at "stock price" and then forming a snap determination on whether a company is "broke" or not.

Some of y'all need to google "burn rate", and then maybe take a few B-School classes. That's not a putdown, that's just helpful advice NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF WORK YOU DO.

I don't know if Mr. Ruiz will ultimately succeed or fail, but I am rooting for him as a fellow UM alum.
