I hope they have enough film on him to get him into the first round. I think with Roche on the other side, he would have had a huge year, but maybe last year was enough for NFL scouts.

To Drew, the risk was that Rousseau would sign with someone else, not Covid or injury.

At some point sports whether professional or college will have to get used to playing with Covid around. This isn’t going away completely so cancelled seasons isn’t the answer. If kids want to opt out then so be it but they should leave it up to the individual kid. If they cancel 2-3 years of college football then that would be the end of college football.

It's hard to get better when you're not playing. He will lose 1 full year of development. Training on your own is very different than practicing with your team and playing in games.

Poor run defense, lack of power or explosion as a pass rusher, lack of film and experience. There are major question marks about his game. Overinflated sack total combined with his traits should be enough to go 1st round but he had the chance to solidify a top 5 spot even in just a few games before wrapping it up. The hype he's getting now might not sustain when coaches start evaluating film and raising concerns.

It's a bad look that he raced to sign with an agent and shut things down despite where things are trending. I wanna see the day when we get a high-rated player like Derrick Brown who turns down the NFL knowing he can improve his game, show more and earn more in the long run.

It may be "old school," but that doesn't make it wrong. If you want to get drafted to play professional football, then at some point in your life you have to actually PLAY A FEW DOWNS OF FOOTBALL.

I see these first round projections for Rousseau and just laugh. People can have their opinions, but I HIGHLY doubt he goes in the first round.

He has injury issues, and then he voluntarily opts out of playing when he's finally healthy. So he only has one year of film. I think NFL execs are gonna look at that and say the kid has a high likelihood of being a bust.

I mean... does the kid even enjoy playing football? Maybe he doesn't have the mental and physical toughness to last a full season in the NFL. You can't coast by on talent alone in the NFL, you have to be willing to put in the blood, sweat and tears. You can't deny the kid has a high upside, but any team who takes Rousseau in the 1st round is taking a huge risk IMO. "Opting out" is insanely soft, and opens him up to huge questions about his grit, determination, love of the game, and character.

So I highly doubt he gets drafted as early as some of those projections show. But we'll see. I'm right more often than not.

I’m sure he’s a fine young man with a great head on his shoulders. I’m just not convinced he is or wants to be a football player. His actions say otherwise

If he were, he wouldn’t have opted out. And if he valued his team, he wouldn’t have abandoned them to sit on his couch this season.

There are a lot of football players who put winning above everything else, who put their teams above everything else. Those are the guys who sacrifice their bodies week in and week out, who play banged up, and who will do anything to improve at their craft.

Not a knock on Rousseau that he isn’t one of those guys - those guys are special. But it’s people with that kind of grit who win respect in the locker room and end up having long careers - they put in the work every day. The players who rely solely on talent but who don’t truly love the game normally flame out after a couple seasons.
