Richt on the WR speed

He may just be trying to motivate the wr core. I doubt he'd say this out loud to the public unless he's just trying to motivate them.

motivate them to do what? you can motivate a player to play harder or focus more. you can't motivate them to run faster.

Miami has always been synonymous with speed. Blistering speed. Phillip Buchanon, Santana and Senorice Moss, Devin Hester, Rascoe Parrish, Sam Shields, Lamar Miller, Phillip Dorsett. We have no one that fits into that category. Just blinding speed. And that's because we had a coach who think if your are big and plodding that's how football should be played. Richt is not talking about any other of their talents other than flat speed, that makes the DBs give 10-15 yard cushions by default, and roll players over the top. Not hard to understand.

Glad we have a Coach that's not afraid to call a spade a spade. We all know that we have been slow at both the WR and CB position for years. So this shouldn't be a surprise. Now that Richt has identified one of the problems let him and his recruiters fix it. With all this talent in Florida we should never be slow at these positions.

Miami hasn't had an abundance of speed at wr in many years. Not just under golden. Remember how bad the position got under Coker? Shannon brought in a little more talent, but not much. Golden didn't make the position worse than it had been, he just didn't improve it. Richt will improve the talent and speed at wr.

I disagree we were good speed wise under both Shannon and Coker. Both had issues with depth at both positions. The speed took a drastic fall under Golden.

Well. fast WR score fast and that was bad for Al's defense so speed was a bad thing since he got here. Plus they made Al's defense look bad in practice.

You do remember our punter having to get reps at wr, right? It was awful! I'd take our current wrs over the Ryan Moore lance leggitt days.

WR is very, very thin.

We need Njoku to stay healthy otherwise we're in big trouble in the passing game.

So why hasn't an offer been extended to the Muck speedster?

I don't try and decipher coach speak, not my thing. Perhaps it's a motivational ploy, a sign of things to come in recruiting, or the straight truth. Your guesses are as good as mine.

Who is the speedster from the Muck?

Go Canes!

Fastest WR on the roster is Coley who's best time at UM is a 4.56 40. Berrios has no business being on a power 5 team. I was thinking a poor mans mike campanaro but even that's a huge stretch. Truth hurts but you guys know that's the reality. I doubt any other WR runs faster than 4.7. Lewis has the talent but has bad weight.
Good news is that Mullins is FAST. I'm not sure how fast but people have said legit 4.4 guy. Richards ran 4.6 as a junior so he will likely be a 4.5 guy by this fall. And his weight means nothing as long as he's running fly routes...see Travis Benjamin. Bruce will be the quick slot guy we all hoped we were getting with Berrios. I doubt Bruce really runs a 4.5 40, but his quickness is elite. If he really runs a 4.5 40 already then we just got a reincarnated Kevin Williams. All together that's a nice combo for the fall. Freshman WRs can make huge impacts as we've seen over and over. We will be fine at WR.

Good way to recruit. Coach is stating the obvious...we are hurting for play-making receivers especially receivers with elite speed.

Mullins is no guarantee to be admitted.

I liked how he also said "we will utilize the strengths of the receivers that we have". That is different from the past staff.

Ah, the old "Mullins won't qualify rumour".

Considering everyone in the know has said he's on path to qualify, just stop

Uh, Stacey Coley. Anybody who says Coley isn't fast should receive a permanent ban
