Richt blocks Gus

You people are idiots. No coach with half a brain is letting a player transfer to a school they are playing the same year

I think it is a sign of weakness. If you trust your evaluation process and determine that a kid can't help your program then let him move on without restriction. It's like you acting like a pimp and you fire your chick. Now you mad cause one of your boyz in the crew want to give her a spot in the stable. Just admit it; you really love dem O's!!!

You realize that he wasn't the one who evaluated Gus and offered him the scholarship to begin with right?

Did they not have enough time to evaluate him? Last I knew every scholarship is one year renewable which is in the favor of the coaches.

Does it sound like his scholarship is being renewed? Lol. I swear half of yall can't see past your shoelaces sometimes.

They did evaluate him and Thomas Brown said it was a mistake to not play him more, however, Gus is a grad transfer who sees Homer coming up as the new backup to Walton and has lived this before (slated as starter and broke his foot, watched Yearby and Walton rush for a 1000 yards each) and doesn't want to live it again...

The idea is that you don't send your playbook to a team you're playing...seems logical to me

Any program that does not have an evolving playbook is setting itself up to fail. If you are relying on 17-21 year olds to keep the playbook a secret you need a new security director. Trust me, this will all be a big misunderstanding after McFarland signs and Gus will be free to move on without restrictions like all the rest. However, If McFarland doesn't sign then this will only play out until the summer just like Saban did with his players. And Richt will be forced to let him go in the end. So cut the sht and let him go now!!!

I'll bet you your account nobody relevant is talking about this in 1 week.

For a board the screams and yells about wanting to win, and is perpetually ready to fire half the staff, it sure doesn't have a clue what it takes, or rather the stomach for it.

CFB is a big business, it's right up there with the NFL and NASCAR. Every yard you think you can gain on an opponent matters. Period. Alabama, OSU*, they all have this mentality.

You want to be the elite again, act like it. Don't worry about the 11 programs Richt/UM won't let Gus transfer to, and instead applaud the over 100 programs to which they will!

We both seem to agree here. Looks like you may need to check your laces?

I halfway agree with you here. Because if McFarland doesn't come Gus will pitch a fit until he is released to go any where he chooses like any other player.

You never let a player transfer to a team on your schedule period! Thatnwould be pretty stupid

It happens every year. Never seen it as the deciding factor where the original school lost a NC because of it? Show me this occurring in the last two years and I will reverse my thoughts?

Does C.W. Post still have a program?

**** you brought it back to Long Island! I know Hostra grounded their flying dutchmen football team (which was quite good by the way) not sure about CW post.

But eeeeewhhhh weee those ladies from Long Island know how to put a man sleep with those kegels 8-))) they're about 2 spots below Jersey girls on the freek-e-leek scale. Oh an they cook good also!!!

Go Canes

Thought you lived in jersey?

In my younger days I have been in through Jersey and in some Jersey Chicks, but never lived there. **** even the Jersey ladies with master degrees from a certain instate Ivy League school are freaky as ****.

Go Canes

Hey, SUNY Stony Brook might be the destination Gus is looking for:

The Official Site of Stony Brook University Athletics

If SUNY Farmingdale or Adelphi get going with a football program, look out!!! I know L.I. guys like Vinnie T and Jay Fiedler would love to coach back home with freaky chicks who can cook...Heck, they can use Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum as an IPF since the Isles left...

You're getting a little carried away. Let's think smaller and focus on beating Syracuse. He goes there, and he brings the playbook with him. Not to say they win bc of that but you sure as **** don't help the cause

With everything in "amateur sports" nobody wants to set a precedence. Whether it's transfers, stipends, trademark rights, college footballs model is hanging on by a thread and they know it. Michigan is paying 3 assistant coaches over 1 million dollars per year. There will be a players movement in the next 5-10 years no doubt.

Dude, it's not like you have the biggest playbook in the game. Why kid yourself? Syracuse will scout every game from this year under Richt and every game leading up to game week. If you think they will rely on last years playbook then you and the like are lost when it comes to football and game planning. Bottomline you will end up letting him go in the end. Therefore, if you are concerned about losing your playbook to Syracuse then it is better to let him walk with last years book than to let him stay through spring and summer camp with this years book as well. What was that you said; Some of yawl can't see past your shoe laces!!!!!

You're the lost little puppy. Yes you tweak playbooks and maybe richt may make major changings as last year was his first year with the offense. But typically you're not changing the playbook to the extent that you're implying. And it's not just knowing the playbook, but also knowing the team's culture, fltendencies, etc. there's a reason this practice of blocking transfers happens. You seem knew to this so I'll forgive you

why in the **** would we let him go to a team we play next season??
Sorry, kids should go where they want just like coaches.

We also should be able to give either of those schools the whole **** playbook and win.
The NFL has people change teams all the time and the good ones still win.

I know that others do the same, it's still ****ed up and hypocritical. Everything that's wrong with college sports.

You lost right there.

Shut up.

This smells like a Marve situation where the coach is penalizing a player for initiating contact with a school before asking for a release. If so, good for Richt.

Again, you don't need a teams playbook to learn their tendencies, with that be blocking, routes, running and passing. This you can pickup in film study. Bottomline if this is your primary concern you would have to agree that it's better to lose him now than later. At the end of the day, you giving up Gus because you don't have a leg to stand on. He's a freakin Graduate so he can go where he pleases!

Look ropa vieja. There's a big difference between watching film on a team and knowing their actual cadences

I can tell you've never seen a CF playbook in your life. Cadences often change during the season. So nobody is going around stealing playbooks or recruiting former players for cadences... lol ****, it is so easy to pick that up during the game.
