Has anyone even seen the fields that's commenting or are you just taking the word of the 49ers organization? If the 49ers wanted the fields to be a certain way they've known for two weeks now that the game is February 2nd and they could have came and prepared the fields that exact same way they have them at their practice facility

U idiots really need to be rooting for another team...or maybe U're just trolls...fields are replaced all the ******* time bcs of being unsuitable, its not unique to the U...only joke is U and everyone else *****ing about a freaking field
Unfortunately, even if that is the case, perception is reality. And in this case, two NFL teams and the league came here to use the practice fields and all three determined our fields were not suitable or safe. Mind you, Golden had those allegations in his lawsuit months back. According to Rappoport, the situation had to be mediated by local officials and “cooler heads had to prevail.” That is just not how you handle this or put a best foot forward, and unfortunately, it is right on brand for this athletic department.

It wasn't only the 9ers the nfl followed up and also deemed it unsafe. And with the stuff that with ryan William's there is no reason to take ums word especially because it's coming from james ****hole

Who GAF about the 49ers.If they didn’t think the fields were good enough for them then they had two choices.Fix em or go elsewhere. They decided to fix them. The NFL has plenty of money.

We ended up with new practice fields .Good for us.Thank You SF.

**** the 49ers I'm a UM fan not a 49ers fan nobody complained about the fields all year the 49ers can eat a dikc

But wait. Didn’t we just have a bunch of kids out there for the 7v7 tournament all week?? If the fields were even a little wet they would’ve been a little tore up.

Exactly. You dont like the fields fix them the way you want them to be. It's not the U's requirement the 49ers have had two weeks if your just now practicing the Chiefs are going to run the score up on your sorry ***

49ers paid the university money to redo the fields so they could practice. This program is such a joke. How the **** are the fields not up to standard to practice on?
So let's say BJ had come out and said we should spend $150k to upgrade the fields so we weren't embarrassed when the 49ers came to town...you're telling me there wouldn't be 47 threads about how that kind of negligent spending was not only killing the program, but was the last straw for him?

I think you're a little out of whack if you think dumping money into practice fields so they can be up to super bowl standards is cool. Not saying they shouldn't be good, but there's probably a little gap between "dangerous to practice on" and "what an NFL team practising for the SB expects".

Fields were seeded last year at this time. They were good to go this fall. I'd suspect they got torn up and need time to recover before spring practice this year.

I haven’t been on campus in months. But I sent a couple of texts some people that would know about this, and that’s exactly what they said. The practice fields were worn and had not fully recovered. Apparently Miami was remedying that by their normal longer-term fix, which would have been ready by spring practice. The other fix, is to completely re-sod them which is actually extremely expensive and usually not necessary to have them ready by spring practice

With the year-round schedule that major college football holds, there's just no excuse for this. Spring practice, recruiting camps, winter workouts...why is this happening in SoFla, with nice weather year round?

And maybe the OriginalCane is correct and it's the IPF. But if that's the case, either don't offer the use of the facilities to an NFL organization, or get it fixed in time so you can put your best foot forward on a worldwide stage.
It's not a "worldwide stage", nobody's watching the practices. Nobody but you cares bout this. You're confusing all the folks who will watch the SB with the 19 people who will watch practice for the SB.

And that's kinda the point. CIS thinks Miami should spend to keep the fields in top shape at every moment just in case somebody stops by, and the university only wants to spend when their actual team is practicing. Seems like pretty sound logic on Miami's part.

no one is watching the practice but one of the teams playing on that worldwide stage on Sunday was prepared to tell Miami to **** off because of the status of our practice fields.

If you don’t think that’s a problem, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s not like the program didn’t know SF was coming.

Because we don't use them this time of year? Just a hunch. Is the University supposed to keep the practice fields in pristine condition 24/7 ?
The 49ers too good to use the brand new IPF in a pinch?

Go Canes!!!!!!!

SIAP but I remember high schools hosting practices, hard to think ours are worse but maybe the numbers are high maintenance or we are inept...

WTF kinda mom and pop mindset is that? Hey we have **** fields that we cant keep up with so use this? The School makes MILLIONS off these kids, they need to take care of those assets, Dont they do high school camps and stuff out there? Who wants their kids playing on **** fields? We dont even care enough to take the recommendation from 3 different entities. We are only ones who come out looking bad in this press..

One day prior we are trying to use 49ers success on our IG but neglect to even take care of our fields.. Just a bad look, terrible PR. If you cant see that then your OG shades are too freaking dark..

Just FYI, the fields were pristine a couple of years ago, but were largely torn up during construction of the IPF. So if they were re-sodded recently, they have only been in place for a few months.

Not making any excuses, but our prior practice fields (pre-IPF) had won awards. I have no idea what has been done over the past few months, or whether we ever brought the outside fields back up to the prior standard.

That’s understandable; what’s not understandable is after it was deemed unfit, The reps for The U was like, “nnnnnnnnnnnnnah, we gone keep it as is.” The fact local officials had to get involved is even more saddening. The apathy around our sports is unbelievable.

Yall are ridiculous.
The field wasn't unsafe, it just wasnt how the 49ers wanted it. They wouldnt pull that **** with another NFL team, they just tried to punk Miami into doing what they wanted. It's a reason why NFL officials had to step in and force Miami to change it, but at the same time the 49ers had to pay for it. It was a preference fight and Miami pretty much said if you dont like our field you can fvck off and go practice at FIU instead.

Bruh, Bruh....

The field was checked out by the 9ers AND GB, AND the NFL, and they all said the field was trash. How could all 3 come to same conclusion?
