He lost out on the #1 recruit in the nation who curiously chose Ole ****.....

I'll be glad when the NCAA finally investigates Ole Miss. They've been getting No. 1 players at their position for a while now....

If this was Bama, or LSU, or OSU, or any other school that's had a winning tradition over the last 20 years, that's different, but we're talking bout Ole Miss man. The same state that not to long ago, just officially abolished slavery. The same school who's mascot is a Confederate Army General. The same state where the Piggly Wiggly and the Walmarts are considered hot spots....and my parents are from there, so I know ain't nothing popping off in Mississippi, yet they continue to land No. 1 recruits? Something's fishy, for sure.

I think it is very likely Sumlin is put on the HOT seat in College Station next season. If things go bad enough...out the door by Dec '16.

Kyler Murray officially to transfer. Is A&M or Texas a bigger greasefire? (I live in Texas so all of this is just awesome to be around)

Never understood or bought the Sumlin hype. He did OK at Houston but nowhere near as well as Herman has, and he played inferior competition than what Herman played this year at Houston. Art Briles built that Houston program from rubble, not Sumlin.

I remember Larry Fedora absolutely wiping his *** with Sumlin's nose in a conference championship game when Larry coached Southern Mess. I was certain then and there that Sumlin was a hype monster.

On top of that, their academic rankings are about as poor as can be, and they're not exactly known as a pipeline to the NFL.

They have been throwing around gobs of cash, play in the SEC west, and have a HC who is mostly just a recruiter.

Why can't Sumlin keep quarterbacks? TF is going on there?

Nothing credible as I have no sources or credibility but from what people are saying here in Texas is that he made promises to both about playing time and it's now back firing. The Murray one is tricky as his dad is a prominent alum that played there. The sense is that Sumlin's style of recruiting is telling kids/families what they want to hear to get them and lacks being real and setting realistic expectations and using the transfer rule as his leverage that "they will figure it out" and "it'll all play itself out" approaches.

Kyler Murray, on the other hand, has held the football program hostage once already. In the weeks leading up to signing day last year, Kyler (and his former Aggie QB legend father Kevin) visited Texas and flirted with a last minute flip to the horns. This was significant because Sumlin had already passed on one-time Aggie lean Jarrett Stidham, who was already on campus at Baylor as a mid-year enrollee. Supposedly the Murrays used this leverage to get a promise of first year playing time out of Sumlin, which of course led to the Kyle Allen transfer. Now, he and his dad are threatening another transfer, even after his immediate competition has left town and perhaps not so coincidentally right on JUCO signing day, making it more difficult for Sumlin to bolster the depth chart. It could be that the Murrays want some say in the OC hire, or even that Kevin Murray (a private QB coach in DFW) wants to be given the QB coaching job. Regardless, Murray and his Intense Football/Baseball Dad father have been a cancerous presence around the program for almost a year now and it may be for the best that they take their act elsewhere.

I'm in Texas and the story goes that Sumlin told Murray he could play baseball but now wants him only to focus on football. Murray's future is baseball.

His dad seems like a real joy. Charlie Strong will probably be so desperate that he'll take the kid.

Sumlin's problem is that he signed Murray despite Murray and his helicopter dad being two raging *****. Sumlin doesn't pay enough attention to character in his recruiting and only chases stars. He's had all kinds of problems with selfish ******* players.

I watched Allen play a few times. That kid can play. Sumlin should have stayed loyal to the kid. Now he's losing both of them. Kind of serves him right.
