OT: Billy Corben on The Joe Rogan podcast

....and topic has what to do with football? Before anyone writes then don’t read op post, I already put Op on ignore. Off season continues to contain too many non football subjects. Mods have stated numerous times not this a Canes and football forum and other topics will not be tolerated. ?????

I wonder why. Maybe because no games are being played, but this is just a wild guess

That said, Rogan is a fairly interesting guy but I also think he gets away with essentially mainstreaming some crazy **** under the guise of just putting information out there and letting his listeners form their own opinions.

I really like Rogan, I think he is an interesting person and his drive is something that I admire, but he does go all in on “gotta hear both sides” sometimes and letting some guests go unchecked on ridiculous claims.

I listen to some of his interviews, even with people that I disagree with their view, because I like to listen to their explanations even if the logic is flimsy or flat out non-existent. It is a platform that let them sketch out their thoughts, but it’s not completely unchecked.

I’m ok with him getting whoever he wants, it’s up to me to filter out the crazy ones and you can learn something from everybody, even if it’s how not to behave.

Hard pass on Cohen.

His next guest after Billy was an anti vaxxer who also insisted there's lizard ppl amongst us.

Joe was like, "so how do we fix this problem? "

Billy Cohen is a Miami hater who’s always on the hustle pimping his shltty documentaries.

Why does Billy Cohen (his real name) hate the school? Because they wouldn’t co-sign his doc, “The U” by allowing him to use trademarked logos. He also wants the school to promote him, and his brand, which they won’t do.

The above are 100% FACTS.

He now takes every opportunity to take a shlt on Miami, both the schools, and the city.

If you think he’s a Miami fan, he is not. The last time I saw him at a game was the 2016 FSU home game, he bought tickets from a secondary source and was wandering around looking for his seat, getting in people’s way and sightlines, totally clueless.

Alex Jones is crazy, but Rogan’s podcast numbers from that recent one with him were outrageous. It’s all about getting people to listen. What’s wrong with someone having a podcast that gives just about everyone a voice? Censorship is becoming too mainstream

Agree, I'd much rather have the opportunity to hear people I think are crazy so I can say, "see, he/she's crazy as ****".

“They staged Sandy Hook the evidence is overwhelming. Sandy Hook is completely fake, with actors, synthetic, in my view.” - Alex Jones
Where did you get that quote from. Just curious and was wanting to see/read it. Thanks

Alex Jones was right about the Russian conclusion. CNN/MSNBC was not.

The Sandy Hook stuff is far blown out of proportion about what he said. Much like the Russian stuff with President Trump.

Alex Jones is a world class tool. King of the D-bags.

Go Canes!

Alex Jones May be crazy , but the craziest thing is he is right more often than not . Gavin’s proud boys started out as a joke with one of his coworkers and took on a live of its own . He’s no longer leading them . I like Joe’s show because people have time to explain their views completely whether it’s right or not . I have listened to most of his podcasts and definitely can understand left leaning points of view much better because of it . Way better than 3 different people yelling on split screen on any news channel

I understand what you're saying, but there are people who won't think Jones and his ilk are crazy...and follow him to the ends of the earth as 100% credible and truthful. That's when it's dangerous and the argument for ignoring him and freezing him out of the "open debate" is worthwhile.

Think of it in sports terms - if you're debating an opposing fan, say, a Gheytor...and they argue that Miami will lose on 8/24 because the university is run by ******* lizard-people who are half-alien members of the Illuminati, and on top of that, they run a child *** ring out of a pizza shop off Biscayne - because Q said so. Where is the worthwhile, open debate supposed to start if that's their starting point? How do you bring them back from that end of the crazy scale? Answer: You can't. Best to let them twist in the wind and let their audience dwindle by not giving them the time of day on any other kind of media besides their own.

Alex Jones is no more unhinged, although perhaps less polished,

Same people who also believe Maddow, O'Donnell, both Mathews, Stelter, Hannity, Lemon, Cuomo, Cooper, etc. There are nuts on both side of the aisle, but probably skewed in bat **** crazy more towards left than right.

The days of Murrow, Cronkite, and Brokhaw just reporting facts are long gone (Rather has been thoroughly disgraced) and have been replaced with "opinionists" masquerading as to what used to be represented as "journalists".

You know too much.

What is your present location?

I have associates in black helicopters and SUVs who would like to have a word with you.

100% Agree.

HARD disagree. Plus, most of the extremism on the right leads to violence in the form of shootings/bombings related to religious zealot white supremacy/national socialism dressed up as patriotism. Most of the extremism on the left is just cuckoo conspiracy theory anti-vaxxer unrealistic utopian bullsh1t rhetoric that is more about passive resistance than violent resistance.

There are extremists on both sides, and we all need to figure out who is extreme on both ends and try to stay focused on what affects everyday people. However, I'm much more personally afraid of right-wing extremism than I am left-wing extremism.

If you don't like what the guests have to say when they go on JRE then don't listen.

Why so eager for censorship @Tad Footeball ?

How did you ascertain that I'm for censorship? I've listened to Rogan and probably will continue to do so but that doesn't absolve him from criticism. The Alex Jones stuff isn't an isolated incident where Rogan was just humorously giving the guy enough rope to hang himself publicly. It's obviously a mutually beneficial relationship now where Rogan is glad to appear on Infowars too.

You're right about people having the option to not listen. I'm a free markets guy at heart. Listen, don't listen.....even boycott or support sponsors if you want. Free speech isn't freedom from critique or public scorn though.

Completely fair and reasoned and I agree with most of it. It's just a point of personal preference that I think he should've drew the line with Jones OR absolutely destroyed him over Sandy Hook but instead he maintains a relationship with the guy.

The only other issue with Rogan allowing ALL points of views to have a place on his forum is when he does what you said in deference to hearing "both sides" and fails to push back on a lot of things. That's when those views start to be associated WITH Rogan and not just guests if one sees Rogan allowing the same subset of views to routinely go unchallenged.

I don't think Rogan is alt-right or whatever at heart but I can see how some people might if one just looks at the vigor in which he challenges some notions aired on his show.

This x1000.

Thanks for clarifying the last name deal with him too so as people don't think it's something anti-semitic on OUR part when he's the one that thought it'd be in the best interest of business as a child actor to change it.

Just another example of "business" and personal gain trumping allegiances with some Canes (and some glorified Canes fans) that too many of us either hold in high regard or are just uninformed about.
