Oregon Extension on the Table for Mario

IMO, I worry a bit about what’ll happen if things don’t work out the way the big $$ donors expect it to.

Let’s say for a sec that Mario can’t get us above 7-8 wins and we’re in a similar position 4 or 5 years down the road.

Do the donors get soured on having spent big for little-to-no ROI? Does that make them less willing to fork out cash next time around?
You cant worry about 5 years from now. A s*** ton will change then

But for ***** and gigs, it could actually work the other way. Big donors get fed up, want to win, and throw even more money at it. What else do billionaires do with their money? Only so many $25M houses, yachts, etc you can buy. Most billionaires are type A ambitious people, You want to win? cut another check...

this is very true, as long as the money doesn't run out, i'm fine with overpaying

but if by backing themselves into this corner, overpaying for mario means getting a second tier OC and DC then It's an issue
Yea, but I’m sure that Mario accepting this job is premised on certain things — pool for his staff being one of them.

This is insane. He's not even an elite coach and we are just making it rain.

Don't get me wrong - I am supportive of the hire overall but given the potential power and the money being thrown around, if this doesn't work out, we will probably go back into our shell. By that I mean reverting to our previous type of not spending and general indifference.

Is Cristobal the dude at this crucial inflection point?

You think there’s an athletic trainer somewhere in the cristobal family tree? Because, at this point, not having to watch Vinny waddle across the field every time someone has a cramp is addition by subtraction.
Based on some of the things I've heard we'd probably be better off if we just replaced him with a regular trainer from like Planet Fitness that has a CPR certification.

I’d see if kingsburry wanted a change of scenery

most seem to think so, including oregon by offering brian kelly and lincoln riley money

Stop worrying about salary amount. The new standard has been set.

Any new mildly successful coach is going to get good money. A good coach will get big money. And an elite coach will become the next highest paid coach. Rinse and repeat every year.

I’m sure they’d like nothing better to ink him to the deal and have it announced in the intro to tonights game.
Except it seems a little late for them to throw that out for him just before a big game. Talk about distraction.

This was probably on the table much earlier. The fact Mario hasn’t signed it yet should say something.
