Oregon Extension on the Table for Mario

Mario is not worth 10 million a year, not even close.

Miami better get its (collective) a$$ to 7 years and close this deal...
Our initial offer was 5 years. We've upped it at the request of Mario.

This won't come down to contract specifics. It'll come down to if Miami is willing to offer the support and control Mario wants and if Mario is willing and wants to come home.

Period.

Unless you are writing the check, why would you care? Is Tucker worth a 10-year, $95 million deal? How about extending Franklin after being 11-10 the last two years? You want to argue the market is inflated then you are correct.
Why would I care?

Mario is a average coach. His winning percentage is just over .500. He has a tendency to lose games he should win.

yes, he has some pac 12 titles, in a very watered down pac 12.

This is not the guy you hire and know your gonna get a lot of wins. This is the guy you hire and hope his OC and DC are really good to get a lot of wins.

not worth 10 mill a year.

No. We. Can't.

Kiffin is already at $4.5 million. He is NOT going to take half of the prevailing market price for non-championship winning coaches ($9.5 per year).

Find ANY specific numerical reference Kiffin has EVER made as to the below-market salary he would accept. I'll wait...

"Reasonable salary" means "market". It doesn't mean "half".
Yes, the market had been set. Thanks to Michigan State and Mel ‘17-14’ Tucker…

Agreed. And I only commented on the years based on what the other poster said. He wasn't clear if 5 years was our opener or our most recent bid.

Mario is worth $20M per year if that is what it takes to bring him back home.

Oregon waits until the LAST DAY to "negotiate" with Mario.

Where was the negotiation when he earned an automatic one-year extension by winning 9 games?

Where was the negotiation when multiple zero-championship coaches re-set the market to $9.5 million per year?

And what, exactly, needs to be "negotiated" with a guy who is already under contract? All you have to do is say "more money, more years". Or is Mario negotiating to have Oregon buy his house for $500K over asking price?
I appreciate you have the patience for theses dudes. I'm at a loss for words when I read some of them posts.

That's EXACTLY what I thought your source's name is. "Nope".
Just bc someone doesn't come on the board and proclaim having "sources" doesn't mean they don't (and no I don't have "sources" regarding Mario). I'm pretty sure others on the board know a lot more but don't post especially bc of the crap they would get.

You asked a question. I answered and let's leave it at that.

Even the most pessimistic "UM is a dumpster fire" fan isn't dumb enough to think UM is making its first sales pitch to Mario this weekend. They already have an answer. If the answer had been no, then either Diaz would have been announced as the coach for next year to give him a head start on replacing the massive turnover on the staff or we would have moved to the plan B candidate.

Value is relative. He is worth whatever someone is willing to pay that has the means to pay. Right now there are 2 suitors with the means and will to pay him at least 10 mil.
Oh look, someone passed their economics class
