Note about Chestnut

WE HAVE TO RECRUIT SOUTH FLORIDA. WE HAVE TO GET SOUTH FLORIDA PLAYERS. IT'S CRITICAL WE RECRUIT SOUTH FLORIDA

recruits Dade back who leads Dade in rushing

WHAT AN EMBARASSMENT. THIS IS REPREHENSIBLE. FIRE GOLDEN.

The Columbus bias around here is staggering. We are raiding Western Michigan after missing out on Collins. How is this anything other than a back up plan?

If I backed it up with facts it isn't biased. And I'll be the first one to tell you that I originally wanted Collins as well, but now that he is out of the plans Chestnut is a good prospect. Also there aren't any other south Florida RB's worth the offer or who would even consider Miami seriously at this point. I would also take Matt Dayes ahead of Chestnut, but he declined saying we offered too late.

I notice some of you are calling him a "Plan C" or even "G" type of kid. I can assure you that Chestnut is Miami caliber and is a good D1 runningback. Granted Collins' skillset is superior to Chestnut, but let me give you this stat Collins rushed for 1276 yards against mediocre competition with schools like Nova, Stranahan, and Hallandale. Chestnut ran for 1206 on less carries and tougher competition such as Central, Northwestern, Aquinas and Killian. While the skill levels are different, Chestnut in no way shape or form should be considered a "Bad" or "Mediocre" runningback

I like the competition angle. I always thought Collins' film was amazing but questioned the competition level. You definitely can't argue against the competition that Columbus ran up against this season and Pete was screamin' about this kid from day one. We shall see I guess. Everything will be ok.....

I don't know about that one, Al Cane. You have to be SUPER elite to run for 2k in dade county WITH a target on ur back. (The reason I put that is because I know people are going to bring up Joseph Yearby rushing for 2k his sophomore year when he was an unknown. All of a sudden his junior year when the word is out it is not so easy.) I get both points though. We all agree that AC is better. I think Tito is just saying that DC is not Darren Davis either. (who was a stud at Southridge, just wasnt an upper echolon D1 talent like I assume Tito thinks of DC.)

Darren Davis put up 5,000 yards at Iowa State. I would take Chestnut or Tice. Not saying they aren't good players. But to spin this as though its not a back up plan is nonsense. If Collins picks us last night, are we offering Chestnut? Yes or No?

It's a backup plan. Doesn't necessarily mean the backup plan has backup talent. That remains to be seen.

The ravens just won a super bowl with ray rice and bernard peirce who if we signed them out of hs our fans would have been like "WTF". Rashawn Scott before his troubles was blossoming into our best receiver last year. No one even knew who he was when he committed.

At the end of the day it comes down to player development, just ask Marcus forston and aldarius Johnson

good back up plan by the staff, kid will be 2nd string asap behind Duke. I like the kid but whats his speed like because it doesnt look like he has breakaway speed.

Chestnut is a back up plan and there is no denying that but he in no way is sub par skill level

How is the bias staggering. That's a pretty dumb comment which can be completely refuted considering we've barely discussed Columbus kids on this board and there are two writers from canesinsight who go to Columbus. Doesn't seem very biased to me considering how little we've discussed them. So plz before u make an ignorant comment at least make sure there is some truth or fact to it

Saw this argument coming

2 star gon 2 star

He's not a 2 star, he's a solid 3 star kid, I think he could be a servicable/productive back at the next level. I dont see him as a superstar, but if Duke stays healty, he could be a solid contributor, until we hopefully land either Sony or Cook next year.

Offers from WVU, KState, NC State, Okie St. Why'd he commit to Western Michigan?
