Meanwhile, in Bama...

What 8 players?
Think only 1 would probably even see the field that next year and that would be in a back-up role and that is the DE Drew Sanders. The rest Saban is probably happy they are in the portal so it opens up more scholarships for him.

Saban is not teflon. His genius was being able to manipulate controllable situations. Stacking 5 stars from all over the country and bury them on the depth chart giving him huge margin for error. Now with the portal and kids being able to leave but not also get paid. This could be the thing that sends the dynasty into nose dive. Not likely but possible. Lots of moving parts is hard to control. Saban likes to control
I call bull****. Saban is a **** of a coach. Never would try to take that away from him. But his genius just like the rest of the sec powers is mark emmert. Everyone thinks the sec is some behemoth that is untouchable. Well the reality is it's just a top heavy conference where the top teir is left unchecked with resources very few other spots could fathom.

Nope. I absolutely don't. What you picked out of that neglected the rest of what I said. It was a horrible year for college football. But any handful of teams had just as much of a claim as bama did. Yet there was never a question that bama would be there. Honestly never is. Cause as long as they have atleast a decent team(which is what they had this year) then for finan ial reasons they'll be there on a yearly basis. Anything two losses or less and they'll be there.
This arguably the best CFB szn since 07. Oregon went up to OSU and thoroughly whipped that ***. This was the worse Bama team to make it. This was what everyone wanted. A g5 program made the off. Michigan beat OSU and was in the playoffs. Texas vs OU was a classic. Baylor vs OKst was a classic. Michigan st vs Michigan was a classic. The national championship game was intriguing to watch and what the ramifications of the results will be. UGA just won a title for the first time since the 80s with a walk-on QB and went through Saban ( something most around thought Kirby was a corch for NOT being able to do ) to do it…the coaching carousel was even entertaining lol. Signing day has the biggest flip of all time…and the best part? Miami is investing in Football at a elite level now

Average teams facing average teams don't make a good football season. UGA just won with a slack jawed guy named after cologne.

Agreed, but I wasn't talking about starters (Ricks and Gibbs), which is who you referenced, I was talking about depth. Sanders is a 2nd string LB next year who would probably see a decent amount of snaps and would start in the even of an injury. Instead of being a 2nd stringer, he's gonna go somewhere else (Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma) and probably start immediately. There's a number of talented 5 star/4 star second stringers who are gonna bolt. They've already had 8 transfers out and 2 transfers in.

BTW I don't think the transfer portal has no cap. Unless I'm mistaken, between the transfer portal and high school recruiting, each school has only 25 counters a year. If Bama loses 10+ players to the portal + on top of what they'll lose to the NFL/graduation, they're not gonna have enough counters to trot out an 85 man roster. Which means less depth...
Bama just signed the top LB/edge rusher in America. Including the number 5 and 8th ranked LB/edge to go with him. Sanders got passed up partly due to injuries but mostly due to that TF number 15..bro I hear what your saying..but it’s wishful thinking atm lol. Bama will be fine. Sanders will start somewhere else because he wasn’t about to start at Bama in 22

I think we're agreeing. I think your main point is that even though depth at Bama might go down, the transfer portal still benefits them because they're replacing a lot of depth pieces (second stringers) with a few starter-quality transfers.

On the whole, that tradeoff may benefit them. But they're probably gonna be way more susceptible to injuries now, since they're gonna have less depth.

BTW Bama is probably gonna make the playoffs next year, so nothing that bad is going on over there lol

U know the one thing all of those situations had in common. Basic teams. Thats what all those situations pointed out is no teams were able to seperate themselves from the others. Every week the top 25 was overhauled etc. Very basic football this year with no teams clearly standing out from any others. I respect the opinion though and see why you may feel that way. I just disagree. Nothing of that was impressive to me especially the championship. I took UGA heavy in that game and got 10x on my money cause there's alot of dudes who see it the way you did. The one constant in football is defense wins...

Lol average? UGA isn’t average. They just won with a walkon QB😂. U can’t be average and do that. That defense was all time. They dominated throughout the szn until the SEC game..and then they bounced back

For the past 5 years everyone been crying about seeing the same teams make runs..Clemson, OSU, Bama, UGA. 2 of those 4 were replaced with Cincy and Michigan..and I don’t think those teams were average unless u put them up again UGA and Bama

I get what you are saying, just seemed like a whole lot of average this year. UGA beating a banged up Bama team didn't change my opinion of them or the season.

I wish I were that tall… Then I wouldn’t need a booster seat to drive. I feel coach Mirabal’s pain. 😞

So you’d rather see 4 elite programs at the top ever years?? I could’ve swore that’s exactly what ppl were tired of lol. I guess your just different man lol…and I was With UGA all szn. Posters all year thought they were fraudulent throughout. That was the best defense I’ve seen in a really long time

Bama gets cleaned out every offseason and doesn't skip a beat.

If Christian Harris returns this might be Saban's best defense in years

DL Dale
DL Smith
DL Young
LB Anderson 5*
LB Too'Too
LB Harris
LB Turner 5*
CB McKinstry 5*
CB Ricks 5*
SS Battle
FS Hellams

Offense is not poorly positioned either

QB Young 5*
RB Gibbs
WR Hall
WR Holden
WR Brooks 5*
TE Latu
LT Latham 5*
LG Cohen
C McLaughlin
RG Ekiyor
RT Kight

While you're laughing it still don't change the situation. This is something they've never seen, and honestly this last year's team (if not for the fact the media pushes the sec to the forefront annually ) had no business being ANYWHERE NEAR a cfb playoff. Not even gonna get started on that Heisman. Obviously the objective to playing the game is competing for a championship. But that don't mean it's teams who should be there regularly that get in. Like I always say THAT GOOD OLD BOY NETWORK IS STRONG. The only way they'd feel better is if Texas could be thrown in there with Notre Dame too...
When Bama lost to an unranked A&M and only drops to 4 it was obvious they were angling to have 2 SEC teams in the playoff. Any non SEC team loses to an unranked team and they are dropped 7-8 spots

Totally hear your point, and I agree with you that this was an exciting year. But it was because of the parity - not because of amazing football teams. This is where Brooklyn is right - there were no real standouts, just a lot of good teams.

We just saw the weakest OSU, Clemson, Bama, LSU and Oklahoma teams in years. UGA was simply the best of the good.

Ewwww you can’t say that in CIS. Only crazy Air raid Offense’s win in Football! Defense doesn’t matter. Didn’t you know?

There’s proof of this being absolutely false lol..who were you putting Bama behind even with that loss?
