Also the previous staff that gets canned is usually guilty of not developing that blue-chip talent...Let's also remember that not all blue chips are the same. I keep pointing out Lingard as evidence of that.

Key transfers were his star QB and WR from OU, Addison from Pitt, and Dye from Oregon. Made it a lot easier.
But give credit where due.

I am not picky .... You could just give me the pig and I'll slice off what I want now and ride the rest home for later.... with salami and cheese in tow...That Ham was Parma Ham...absolutely ridiculous...difference between Prosciutto and Cappicola is, one is from the hind quarters of the pig...the other from the neck region @RVACane

Valid point. Perhaps Mario did not want to poach players? There was an OL or two that came from Oregon, though. There should have been a greater portal effort made at WR, clearly. Addison was USC-lock, as was Mario Williams (OU), but you’d think there were others capable.I find it a little strange that star players followed Riley from Oklahoma but Cristobal wasn't able to convince any Oregon players from the east coast to transfer closer to home.
And Cristobal didn't need a QB to transfer because he already had the acc rookie of the year at QB. Unfortunately Cristobal decided he didn't like having a pass oriented offense so TVDs talents were wasted for 4 games. As for WR - I'm not going to put that on Cristobal but I will say it looks like there is a very talented WR already on the roster that isn't getting much burn because he isn't a Greentree All American.
im all for recruiting nationally, but have to land the elite skill talent here. they excel all over the country but somehow we can't get them to play? come on now. bamThis is an amazing step in the right direction.
I mean he beat better teams Than the teams Mario beat this year. we haven't beaten anyone good and lost to a really bad team in a blowout. also, I think its easier for a guy like lane bc he coordinates a side of the ball and like you said brought his QB w him. hes also shown that his offense has worked everywhere hes been (ECU, OU, USC). also, fwiw, I dont think Mario is in the Lincoln Riley class of coaches. again it doenst mean Mario sucks but he just inst what Riley is. I think Riley is a guy who will get a title while Mario will help build a good roster to get the pieces in place for an elite HC to get to a title.Key transfers were his star QB and WR from OU, Addison from Pitt, and Dye from Oregon. Made it a lot easier.

True. That's where looking at the individual positions is important.Thank u good sir;
Which is these type of reports don’t mean chit w/o context.
1. DT - I’ve been banging home this point for yrs now; we’ve been lackluster in this dept for quite some time, which is absolutely asinine when we think about the history of our program w/ impact, play making DTs. Here, we have only 2 blue chips, one via the portal. That’s absolutely unacceptable.
2. DE - Much better room, & looks good on paper; however, two are true freshman still developing, so that brings that room down just a tad
3. LB - Another unimaginable room based upon our history. We only have 3 “blue chips” here, where one is a true freshman still developing, one has been here for 5 yrs & still has a HS body, & the other has a ton of upside, but under 2 staffs now, can’t see the field for one reason or another.
4. WR - Frustrates the chit out of me. We have one who is injured, one can’t see the field, one has been here since George Mira was toting the rock around & remains inconsistent, one is a true freshman still developing, & we have one who has a ton of potential.
Chit makes no sense, which is y that whole “blue chip argument means chit.” 55% is not very good IF ur entire evals is not flawless. And let’s keep it a buck; the guys who transferred who were considered blue chips have been *** at their ew homes, too. Teams like Bama, UGA, & OSU stack an absurd amount of blue chips b/c they r not hitting 100% on evals. Some guys peak way too fast & never get better. So if they have an 89% ratio, they can afford to miss on 15 - 20%; we cannot!
I think Riley is a guy who will get a title while Mario will help build a good roster to get the pieces in place for an elite HC to get to a title.
Shut up! Saban didn’t have top 15 talent when he lost to those bums
We are giving our worst head coach ever credit now?So Diaz gets no credit for bringing in King or having an offense that leveraged his strengths. Interesting.
I’m not trying to discredit Riley or absolve Mario.I mean he beat better teams Than the teams Mario beat this year. we haven't beaten anyone good and lost to a really bad team in a blowout. also, I think its easier for a guy like lane bc he coordinates a side of the ball and like you said brought his QB w him. hes also shown that his offense has worked everywhere hes been (ECU, OU, USC). also, fwiw, I dont think Mario is in the Lincoln Riley class of coaches. again it doenst mean Mario sucks but he just inst what Riley is. I think moreover, Kirby got a massive boost in spending by Georgia versus Richt. Perhaps as big of a boost as Mario got from Miami over conditions under Manny.Cristobal is basically a poor man's Mark Richt, but getting paid like a rich man's Mark Richt. Richt was a long term program builder at UGA, consistently brought in classes ranked in the top 10 (usually around 7ish), he built good (and occasionally very good) teams but not elite teams. However, even with those top 10 classes, there just wasn't enough talent to be on the same level as Bama. Kirby Smart came in and immediately started landing classes in the top 3. Some can say it's because Smart played the bag game and Richt didn't, but you don't get prizes for not getting your hands dirty. It also didn't take long for Smart to start winning big time games over ranked teams, which Richt had a tendency to lose even though his UGA teams might have had as much (or more) talent on paper. I think we'll get something similar with Cristobal, he'll recruit in the 7 to 8 range, UM will have a team that might win an ACC title once or twice in 10 years, and if we're lucky UM will hire someone more dynamic to take the program to the next level around 2032. Of course, this being UM I can pretty much guarantee the next guy will be a "UM guy." Might as well start negotiating with Ken Dorsey now.
Sony Michel got $200,000 behind Richts back....Kirby was illegally dropping HEFTY Bags his 2nd yr....learned that from Saban.I think moreover, Kirby got a massive boost in spending by Georgia versus Richt. Perhaps as big of a boost as Mario got from Miami over conditions under Manny.
Georgia went 10-3 under Mark Richt in 2015. Kirby Smart went 7-5 the following year. Like Saban, he had a huge jump in year two however.
The thing about Mario though, eventhough he’s a former OL, Miami averaged more passes per game than runs each of his 4 years.….3 of those 4 years they averaged 40+ passes per game. The low was 36. So he played for an offense 30+ years ago that threw the ball all over. What “old school” offense is he holding on to?Most former OL and DC’s want to depend on the trenches. Dc’s want to lean on the defense so they tend to be more conservative. Former OL do the same, lean on the run game and OL. Also tend to be conservative. If you’re conservative and stuck in your predictable ways you’re flirting with danger every week. No matter how talented you are. That’s one reason Mario always has 1-2 head scratching losses every year.
Thats why I think Venerables will be fine when it’s all said and done. Going out and hiring Lebby told me a lot about his mentality. He’s going to recruit talent and close all the holes left when Riley bounced. Plus you know that d will be right or close to right by the time they jump to the Sec.

proceeded to go 8-5 immediately thereafter, right?
