I think you guy all need to face the fact that Mario is a program floor raiser. Your new floor when he’s done will be about 9 wins. His ceiling is capped tho. He’s not a great game day coach. He just isn’t.
id be okay if he gave us what richt gave UGA for the next 9 seasons. it at least sets UM up for the next guy to come in and take it to another level. also, consistent success (9-10 yearly) continues to bring in more fan support in terms of dollars, interest, etc. well get frustrated over the next 9 if thats the case but if you average a 10 win season a year, youre the best coach we've had since butch

You’re right in what you’re saying about the effects of the previous staff and the mindsets. I buy it for most everything as I’ve been told the same thing from someone who knows who I trust. I just don’t accept it relating to MTSU. That can’t be allowed to happen. I probably can’t buy it for VT either but I get the rest of it.
Understand. Think if it this way. How many MTSU style losses do the Alabamas, Clemsons, Ohio States, etc have over the past 10 or so years? Or even close games against inferior opponents? Top tier programs not just from a personnel standpoint but from too down on staff and in admin. A year or years of undisciplined, clueless leadership for 18,19, and 20 year old young men leads to bad habits and an overall lack of understanding of what’s required.

The separation of talent and skill outside of the top handful of teams is thinner now then it was 20,30, and 40 years ago. The difference is the program, ie the coaching staff, support staff, admin, and to a degree finances. We had a fresh injection of hot garbage when Manny took the helm. Not his fault. Instead it was the decision to put him in place.

Plain and simple what we saw against MTSU was what we’ve seen the past few years whether it be FIU or a few others. I’d argue, up until the past few years, the most shocking loss was getting choked out by a back-up, never was QB for USF on a smoldering day in 2010 I believe. I was unfortunately standing on the USF sidelines with a good friend of mine who was a very good LB for them in the early 2000’s. Until recently that one has always stuck in my crawl. Unfortunately that’s become the norm here the last few years. Until that approach and cancer is purged there will be an opportunity for it to happen every week.

People said 2-3 years and then everyone got hyped up by the offseason and weak schedule and got overly optimistic. The MTSU loss was unexpected and really shook people. The staff has to do better, but nothing can overcome players complacency with losing.

I literally haven’t seen miami And playoff mentioned in the same breath once on here. Everyone assumed losses to Clemson and the aggies
Verbatim? Maybe, maybe not. Admittedly I don’t spend my time reading every post in pages and pages of endless threads. But to say that wasn’t insinuated or pretty closely stated is a difference of opinion we have. A&M was not assumed as a loss by many, especially after them laying an egg the week prior.

When pundits, ESPN, and others are putting this team in the top 4 or placing unreasonable percentages of them making a playoff, it’s natural as a fan to buy into the hype. In reality the last staff recruited and attempted to build depth and fill holes like a 10 year old recruits on a PS4 NCAA football franchise mode.

Starting to not like the narrative that Cristobal keeps pushing that we will be stuck in close games for the rest of the season because of the talent level on this squad. Bull ****. We have the talent to win by at least two scores against the likes of GT, VT, Duke, even VA. Loser mentality already from Miami guy Miami savior Cristobal.

Wasn't this the entire argument to HIRE him in the first place? We've been bums for 15 yrs. No stability, no culture, just a revolving door of trash. Hire a coach who will immediately start to recruit the talent level wayyyy up, build the roster up over time, add the necessary program expenditures needed, and know you will have some head scratchers on gameday as you go but win enough games that the recruiting can continue to go up a bit each yr to where you are eventually top 5-7 class every season.

Not saying Mario is Kirby, but that dude was corching his way into 1-2 losses a season from the get go, and still is. Imagine if Mario ran the fake punt with Justin Fields in the backfield on here, site would crash instantaneously

Still trying to figure out why it's either the players or the coaches. Everyone with a U on their chest is 2-3. Every player, every coach. They all have to be better. No one is above blame. No one should be sitting there patting themselves on the back. This will take time. 16th ranked blue chip ratio but a lot of underdeveloped talent and it shows on Saturdays. Mario needs time and the players need time.

I will say I have seen enough of Gattis. Get his *** out of my face. My only complaint about this season so far, Mario made a bad OC hire.
Gattis is just running the system that Mario prefers. Not defending Gattis, just saying that this all starts at the top.

Next season, Mario needs to hire a smart and innovative spread OC, that is also creative with the running game. This will be a big hit to his ego, but it will save his career, and possibly change his legacy here.

If he doesn’t, both he and the football program are toast.

Every situation isn’t the same im just talking about Miami’s, if we go thru this list of blue chippers would yall still take that **** as an accurate way to measure a roster?
Bro I’m not tryna beef that would be silly, but it’s called selection bias. We all track this team and know all these dudes well, and how they have underperformed. I’m sure if you did the same exercises with these other teams and their fan bases that they would have similarly sized lists of blue chip “busts”.

Difference is we’re getting dominated at home by MTSU and they’re not.

Change out the mortadella for some Capicola and you have a home run. That looks dope. Ive just never been a fan of mortadella.
In El Paso there is a sandwich shop called Brown Bag Deli..of all places. It is run by a real burly italian man and he makes a capicola and Genoa sandwich that is out of this word good.

Without their starter, no?

Yes, but a shutout? And for the record, I love Lebby, I was just pointing out that there's no real rhyme or reason to this, other than a lot of first-year coaches at high profile schools are struggling. This is not exclusive to Mario, it's not excusive to pro-style vs spread, it's not exclusive to offensive vs defensive coaches, etc. Fact of the matter is a lot of these schools who traditionally recruit well (per the 247 composite) and have first year coaches are going through growing pains.
